I’m ready to buy a cheap plasma cutter on Amazon. I realize all the cons of doing this but I’m ready to roll the dice. My question is it worth it to buy amazons 4 year warranty for $45 to hedge my bet. Thanks for any information.

How much do you plan on using it? Every once in a while, as long as it works the first couple times it will probably last 4 years. If you use it all the time it may be worth it to pay $45 extra.

Thanks for the advice that’s what I was thinking too. The main thing is does the 4 year protection plan actually pay off. I don’t have any experience using it. The Chinese companies change names frequently.

I bought one on accident for a dehumidifier. it broke after the factory warranty. the particular model I bought was no longer made, so they sent me a check, for the purchase price. I believe the current insurance provider issues refunds as amazon credits, not in dollars. if that matters, you'll want to check.

All those third-party warranties are ****. Just like when you buy extended warranties from used car dealerships or you buy extended warranties on tools and box stores. There's just enough stories of them paying off out there where they're not completely shunned. I will say i bought a cheap plasma cutter off of Amazon. I was shocked how well it worked. I cut through more than a quarter inch tool steel with it. I believe it was the cut 35 110v. pretty impressive really. By the way from all the reports and reviews and videos, the 220V was only marginally better than the 110. and the 110 of course is going to be far more versatile.

I can't think of too many cases were I'd need to use a plasma cutter and only have 120v available. Would be limited to about 1500 watts as well, roughly 13 amps.

Friend had a 120v welder he tried to make use of. Was constantly tripping breakers.

You’ve gotta ask yourself one question: “Do I feel lucky?” Well, do ya, punk?

I wouldn't bother with the 4 month warranty I would just use it quite a bit when you first get it and are covered through amazon.

I have a herocut cutpro50i and it is awesome. I don't use it everyday or every week but for ripping down larger sheets/flat bar over 6" it works great. I've had it for just over 3 years now and at $250 Canadian when I bought it if it broke today, I would order another tonight.
