Is that Craftsman restorer discontinued? I can’t find it on their website, but their website frequently has deficiencies.

It might be but its the same as this one from Rockler And of course you can buy from the inventor directly but it might cost more. To keep the deal thread on track this is available on Amazon but I provided links with better prices. I have the Porter Cable version, love it!

The LockNFlate locking air chuck has a 10% off coupon taking it down to $36.
  • For use on Milwaukee®, DeWalt®, or other battery inflators, choose an OPEN FLOW LockNFlate® Air Chuck.

Coupon works on other LockNLube products as well
I got one of these LockNFlate air chucks, I’m not satisfied. It doesn’t stay on a tire valve as well as the $3 option I was using before. It’s also very large.

Interesting, I wonder if yours is defective. I have been using them for a couple years inflating hundreds of tires with exactly zero issues with leaking or staying on. I have found their 360 degree locking mechanism to be much more secure than the lower cost ones with a single tongue securing them to the valve stem.

I was using it commercially on fleet vehicles with a M18 inflator. It didn’t seem to seat well, I was constantly repositioning it to try and get it sealed. I got a generic version from Amazon Vine without as complex of a locking mechanism and it works ok.

Call 'Lock N Lube' customer service and tell them about your issue (603)795-2298……. I am sure they will help you.

BTW! I have the straight 'lock n flate' and the 90* inflater along with a ‘lock n lube' grease coupler……. No problems with either one..

I have a lock n flate that would leak more times than not and you would have to mess with it to get it to seat properly. I called customer service and they sent me a new one and it is the same. Leaks about 1/2 the time. I can usually mess with it and get it to seat, but my cheaper ones seem to work as well if not better. It’s a quality piece. I just wish it sealed better.

Im pretty sure I could pull the valve stem out of the rim with my lock n flate.

I did have to get my first one replaced, it would NOT seal. No issues with the replacement.

Be aware that not all Milton's have threads in the head to hold onto the valve.
I never used the Milton to lock on and always wondered why they put those damn threads in there. I have one that is smooth. I also just noticed that the add shows its only rated to 150PSI. I use a 175psi compressor or a nitrogen tank set as high to inflate tires on the motor coach and a few of my trucks. Guess I better start wearing goggles and ballistic gloves.:)

Keep in mind these do not connect directly to the Milwaukee (or similar) inflators without a Schrader to 1/4 NPT adapter.

I am curious about the open vs closed … I would think the closed would be preferred for the inflator? Or does it even matter when the line is not pressurized all the time?

Milwaukee ships their inflators in the open configuration. I have always purchased open aftermarket nozzles. I would guess they didn’t design the diaphragms to have constant pressure on them.

Seems like a deal. Half off coupon brings it down to $17.50 for a green laser level.

This Self Leveling Laser Level is still $17.49 (on Sunday afternoon) after coupon so I figure it is worth a look and ordered one (thanks, Etchase). Maybe I can finally align my jars 🔩

I use a JACO Lightning L2X 90-degree chuck on my M18 inflator (was recommended on another forum). Connects directly to the end of the inflator's stock hose.

Works great on the dually tires on my RV. I don't love the 90-degree fitting on my Buick, which has hubcaps (I know, I should upgrade the rims).

I might buy a straight one (S2X) which would work great on everything other than the RV duallies.

As for "why" these are needed? Definitely helpful when it's cold outside. Also if your tires are more than a few PSI low. The M18 inflator isn't incredibly fast, especially on larger tires. Plus, it makes filling tires with the M18 inflator truly plug-and-play: Simply attach the chuck to the tire, set your desired PSI on the inflator, and walk away while it fills (it'll stop itself at the set pressure).

Heavy truck or tractor tires that take forever to fill.

Tire machines, where you’re starting from zero psi?

Majority of the tires I change are semi tires or tractor/implement

But as alwaysFlOoReD said, the Miltons I am using have threads in the chucks. So you can get them to stay on the valve stem simply by angling the head slightly with gravity. Somehow I had never encountered one without threads in the chuck!
Learn something new every day - I went out and checked, and by golly there are threads in there

I know everyone is a fan of Knipex. I struggle with the price sometimes though.

Here's a couple of close copies for a fraction of the price:

I just cleared several feet of root in my main line w/something I pieced together that is basically this w/a pressure gauge missing. I would probably not do such a big job again but it's likely perfectly fine for simpler tasks or not so much roots. If I had to do it over again, I'd likely get a reel for the hose & maybe just run my 3/8 hose instead of the 1/4 tied to my 3/8:
