broke a tap and these seemed fairly cheap edit: good enough to finish the job, cut better than my broken bit. :

Also got these but seems to be hit or miss. I'm adding the expensive type since I wasn't aware these things existed. edit: it was a miss for me, broke the legs off.

As it's shipped & sold by Amazon, one shouldn't have an issue price matching at Home Depot. If you do, let them know they updated their policy in March to reflect matching online retailers.
I mention this, as some stores still have signs say thing they will beat by 10%, and others have Military discount they can stack on top of the match...and it's not Amazon 😉

It is probably in a warehouse local to your location and they've decided for whatever reason to limit the stock. I have set up three different delivery addresses. One for my house, one for my parents and one for my wife's best friend. These are all and very different states delivering from different locations usually. And I tried deliver you all three of those and none of them showed the 30% discount.

You seem to be right. The coupon is called Southwest. All items are sold direct by Amazon. Good wrenches-SK LP90, Summit Torque, Williams…. thanks for explaining it. I almost never look at the details of the coupon.

But make certain that you always post them no matter what. I found some fabulous things that happened to apply to me that has saved me a ton of money when people post those, even if they're only for one area

Please let us know how they work because unless the tap is loose IMHO they just don't work.

it didn't. Sheared all 3 legs off. Maybe they work in aluminum or brass if you manage to break a tap in that.....not gummy 1045 (I think). Believe it or not an HF rotary tool saved the day. I just wanted the diamond cone bit to cut the tap off and wasn't even sure if the tool was included (it was). It was actually nice pen sized and fairly fast so it will become my new go-to deburring tool. The collet nut was aluminum so those threads got chewed up but a nut from another rotary tool worked fine on it and was back in business. The threads were good enough to finish tapping...new tap cut a little better than the broken one.

I've become a huge fan, and good customer, of a local wizard with an EDM setup. I was tapping a bunch of 4-40/6-32/8-32 holes in stainless fittings and had just enough failures to be unhappy. EDM made broken taps disappear like magic.

I don’t need any more ratchets either, but Amazon says it will be on my porch by the 24th.

Got busted by my wife on this one, though. I sent her to look in my toolbox last week to look for some needle nose pliers and she saw how many ratchets I have already, and, since the Amazon account is in her name, she gets a notification every time I order something online.

Curtains for me on this one.

DCF870 hydraulic motor impact driver is more compact (4" front to back vs 4.8" for DCF860 or 5.3" for DCF887) and quieter than the regular ones. But it's significantly less powerful (only 50 nm of torque) than DCF887 (105 nm) or DCF860 (280 nm).

I guess the main target audience for the tool should be cabinet makers and other people working in confined spaces with modestly sized fasteners. For anybody else it's just a marketing gimmick at this point, IMHO.

Thank you! I was wondering what was so great about the DCF870 over a DCF887 that's a lot more powerful for a lot less money. I have the DCF887 and have not found noise to be an issue.

it is also considerably smoother and easier to use with precision than other impacts. At least, according to the reviewers.

60 and I don’t wear ear protection. I am not a full time tradesman using impacts all day. I have several Milwaukee impacts. Will be using one intermittently for much of the day next week to assemble a 12x16 Yardistry hip roof gazebo.

^ These are pretty nice sets; grabbed one for $40 when Lowe’s was blowing out V-Series. Made in Taiwan. Case is pretty sturdy. Ratchets are non rebuildable and tend to have awful backdrag, which some have helped by soaking the heads in oil for a day or two. Sockets are good and agree the locking extensions are really nice. Good option to throw in a car.

^I wouldn’t say the backdrag on the 3/8 ratchets is awful. It’s about 8 ounce-inches. Not the lowest, but not the highest for a 3/8 drive. It’s very rugged, having the highest failure torque of ratchets tested by client graphics, edging out Snap On. The 1/4 craftsman ratchet has about the same backdrag, which is unusually high for a 1/4. The sockets are said to be clones of Facom’s.

I don't think I'd ever buy a non-serviceable ratchet.

I have an older (80s/90s?) Craftsman 1/4-inch ratchet that was really acting up (over time, the ratchet would jam, it became hard to impossible to switch forward and back reliably). I took it apart, cleaned everything, reassembled and then soaked it in oil for a week or more. That thing now works better than new.

Probably should have used a better lube than motor oil, but that was handy and works great.

Dirt finds its way into these things, and becomes the enemy of moving parts. Not being able to clean that out is a deal-breaker for me.

YMMV...

Thanks, grabbed a set.

I have a set in a metal box (like drill bits), but are missing the smaller sizes (probably broke). So please post if you see fractional. All I see on a quick look is a 4-pc for under $20, and everything else is 80-200
