I can't find a cheaper option than this or walmart

this just got here. Buttons are surprisingly decent and have nice 'tactile feedback'. Enclosure is meh/average and doubt the gasket would meet any sort of mil-spec but should a casual splash and all dust out. It looks like the Walmart option (which looked a bit nicer imo is OoO). I went w/this because of the label windows.

Note Gedore Red is the import brand. The Red line tools are made in China, Taiwan and India. Just want to make sure you don't think these are made in Germany tools like regular Gedore.
I understand that is usually the case for Red, but worth noting that the listing and review images do show made in Germany. Which is not to say that COO can't change. I ordered a set so will report when they arrive.

Wow Gedore Red is made in India?!? I didn’t think Gedore had sold anything from India since they closed their plant in the mid ‘80’s after India got rid of foreign ownership as a response to Union Carbide’s Bhopal disaster. Gedore currently manufactures products in Germany, Austria, the United Kingdom, Turkey, Brazil and South Africa I believe. I have seen some wrenches contracted from Taiwan. I’m guessing they subcontract other products as well, but I haven’t seen any from China or India. Do you have any examples in the Red line? The punch and chisel set received today from Amazon is manufactured in Germany, but I don’t know when it was manufactured. I would characterize the Gedore Red line as their value brand like Blue Point.

Think this is the same set cheaper that was posted here before?

Does anyone have experience with these? Quite a savings compared to Grip Edge equivalents.

They grip well. If they save your **** once they 're worth it. Just like with other extractors, common sense applies where the hole may need a little modification for the correct size to get a good bite.

I too went looking....WEN has a decent deal, I opted for this vevor-like clone in the 1kW variant:

These just got here. Well packed and build quality looks fairly impressive. Unfortunately I wasn't aware of there being flexshaft differences and this one isn't exactly tool-less like other that look identical. It's got a quick disconnect & an allen set screw whereas the spare chuck I ordered uses a quick disconnect and a keyed/splined shaft making it truly tool-less. Spare shafts are cheap so no big deal, just an additional cost to consider when shopping for one.

laptop card reader stopped working, been wanting this type of quick vise since I first saw one.

Vise action is ok but not super smooth like the rods aren't perfectly sstraight. Some burr in the cam lever bolt needed to be cleaned up before thread engagement. Vise base a little bigger than expected & come to think of it, the Heinrich these copy allows them to sit sideways too.

Full rather windy story. As I walked past a neighbor I saw he couldn't get the rotor off to replace the front drive axle. I didn't get real close (fence between us) but from about 10 feet away it looked like the center of the screw was stripped out deeply, almost like drilled part way through. He had pounded a torx bit in but it apparently didn't grab enough. Maybe he didn't have a bigger torx bit that would work, I don't know. I got my set and handed it over the fence. Later when I returned home he handed them back with a thumbs up and a thanks and showed me the remains of the screw.
To answer your question, these bits don't have to be pounded in heavily as the spiral ridges dig in as it's rotated. Kind of like a turbo socket, only the male version.
They do dig in well. Another time helping another neighbor trying to remove a stripped out ,seized, caliper mounting bolt on his full size GM SUV, the bit gripped enough to where I could feel the shank of the long bolt twist and spring back when released but the threads were too rusted to come free so it got drilled out. GM used an 11mm bolt with a 9mm allen socket head and luckily the local hardware store had an M11-1.5 tap to help finish the job. And even though this bit couldn't remove that particular bolt, I like that this smaller set( IIRC there is a larger set available), should the need arise again for this oddball size, had a 9mm bit instead of jumping from 8mm to 10mm.

*** I added another picture here and above in case you didn't check out the Amazon link.

@Etchase, sorry to hijack the thread. Very happy to hear your chisels are from Germany, congrats on a great deal! Gedore Red does have some OK tools. The German box stores like OBI stock some cheap wrenches from China and India. The ratchets are the standard Taiwan model and the sockets seem just OK. I'm not a fan of the Gedore Red I've seen in the stores. Gedore is a great brand but I think Gedore Red is closer to Amazon brands than Blue Point. https://www.obi.de/search/gedore red/1759262969074.png

FYI, check the Advanced Auto Parts website for your local store. I got the MM and SAE Powerbuilt Zeon hex bit sets for around $3.45 a piece on clearance. YMMV
I just checked Advance Auto Parts and they are not available (even for shipping) so this is "Gods way" of telling me I don’t need them.

BTW! Thanks for the heads up!

You don't "really" need it, until the one day that you REALLY NEED it, LOL...

Having said that, I'm not overly impressed with their examples of "rounded" fasteners. Whenever I ****** one of these up, they're not recognizable as Allen heads, LOL...

Those are poor examples. Don't really see any rounding. It worked on the brake rotor screw I mentioned where the Torx bit wouldn't bite and from a distance the hole was deep almost like it was drilled part way. Also worked on the stripped out allen head caliper bolt I tried to remove but the bolt shank just twisted. The bit retained it's grip without slipping. I guess it comes down to how good a bite and how stuck the fastener is. Not every situation is the same. You could always try a set, they're not that expensive. Or, maybe for shallow stripped out holes, this style of extractor would work better for your applications.

one of my Gedore hammer sets arrived. Everything's marked made in Germany. Box was a bit funky like it had been stored in a humid location for along time. Some stains here and there, was not expecting the nice foam cut out for toolbox storage. I did buy 2 at the 1/2 price though.
