Amazon Gearwrench Goodness

The UPS truck dropped off my Gearwrench 28 piece 1/2 drive metric socket set I got for $34.23 when Amazon had them on sale. I'm not a fan of 12 point sockets but, the price was right for the set. The set included shallow 12 point sockets 10-24mm, 10-19mm deep six point sockets, a 1/2 drive 60 tooth ratchet, and 5 and 15 inch extensions. My first impressions are that the ratchet is smooth, the sockets are clearly marked, and the knurling on the extensions is sharp. Taiwan made. Thanks for the heads up on the sale.

bigsean you missed a nice set at a very good price. I received mine a feel days ago and was very impressed. (I still think the ratchet was a tad on the coarse side) Other wise it was much better then I expected.

The coarseness issue may work out with use. Or it may just be where I've been using round heads so much lately.

That's a good deal. I passed on it because I have enough 1/2 drive stuff for my needs, although I was tempted.

I have a gearwrench plastic case like that, and the lid comes off (pull in the obvious direction of the hinges). It's handy for storage in your toolbox. After you buy all that gearwrench stuff, you'll just have to find a place to store all the lids.

i think most other places that sell their tools in plastic cases don't have a removable lid.

Speaking of lids, I have a GW tap & die holder set, and its case is VERY nice. Easy to open, easy to close, and it screams 'quality.' Too bad that other tool makers don't include such nice cases with their tools. I mean, tool sets at double, triple, and quadruple+ the price of that $50 holder set still come with flimsy pieces of **** that manufactures call cases.

Never really though much about it... because the GW tool cases simply worked, but now I know why....
