A lot of the stuff I receive is simply trashed out packaging. Sometimes as a result of the trashed packaging some of the parts get lost in transit. I just give them a call to discuss "issues". At 59.0 pounds, I am sure they don't want to ship it too many times BUT they say it's still usable so if you aren't happy give one of the Amazon reps a call to discuss it. They may offer you a deal you can't refuse or just send a pick up slip for return.

Yes it is. I've bought a ton of AWDs over the years and only received a few duds. Never a problem with returns.

On the Cox Reel, I'll also add that their customer service is top notch. I was having some issues with mine rewinding and we did several back and forth emails, they had me take video of it. I ended up just sending it back in for repair then attempting repair myself but they really went out of their way to help me.

I bought the black one in 2015, threw away the bulb and installed a LED. It makes a great tool for those times when it's inappropriate to attract attention to any other tools you might be carrying. I tried the 6 cell first and while it was a superior tool, it was too long to fit between the console and seat. The 5 cell was a great compromise.

Amazon used to allow you to filter by discount, but recently removed the option from the left toolbar. You can, however, add it to any url by typing "&pct-off=**-" at the end, with the ** being the percent off you want (i.e. 70). I usually filter by Amazon.com as the seller or once I am in the Warehouse deals section because a lot of third party results will show up otherwise.

I don't know how they calculate the discount, but it isn't always accurate. I think it may go by discount off the "list" price. I find good results with 70% off, but you can try higher or lower.

I bought a couple that were damaged , They mounting bracket part is what's usually damaged, and can usually be straightened out and used .

Makes sense, I was watching some videos and they show them coming mounted to osb board. Guess if it took a hard hit it would bend the bracket. Says it'll be here friday so we'll see.

Cox reel arrived today. I knew when I saw the box it was going to be bad, but unfortunately its destroyed. Not only is it bent(kinda expected that), but the side had been crushed and it broke the part that transfers the power. Oh well, shipping it back out tomorrow.

It is mounted to a piece of plywood, but the box appears to have rolled off a truck on the interstate. Doesn't do it much good if its not kept upright and a truck has ran over it.

The thing is enormous though. My ceilings are 9' in my garage and I feel like I wouldve had to duck to get under it.

It's a gamble on a return.

I bought an 80,000 kero bullet type radiant heater acceptable for like $70 last year, they were all $200 or so and up. The box was destroyed, but the heater was perfect, so who knows.

I get what you’re saying but the return policy is pretty easy so I say take your chances

Given how basic these things are it's probably fine. No pressure, no small parts, pretty solid. The number of these you see bouncing around the backs of trucks on the way to hunting camp year after year is a good sign of durability.

Plus Amazon's grading system is a random number generator. I've bought "acceptable" products with factory tape still on the box and "like new" that appeared to have been run over by a truck after being used for 5 years in the oilfield
