I think you are correct…If my memory is right I think I tried to mount it that way to begin but I think I made the studs too far from the hammer base plate to reach so I had to turn them around.

Suggest that anyone here NOT order this
I just returned it and see it relisted (for a higher price than I paid). The one I received was substantially damaged - had been dropped and had something dropped on it. Entire box was canted sideways and a big dent in back.

I have a similar one so thought it would fit with my existing box nicely, but this one is NOT close enough to usable shape. I have had good luck with most warehouse steel boxes (usually minor dents) but this is not the case for this one.
