Just a heads up to users here: some of the links took me to smile, some just to amazon. Just be aware if you use smile to help your favorite non-profit (I most certainly do)

NOT A COMPLAINT WHATSOEVER!. It's impressive anyone wants to take the time to post here complete w screenshots. Smile or not is the responsibility of the consumer. Merely an observation if anything

There's a nice Chrome extension called Smile Always that automatically redirects you to the smile page whenever you open any Amazon links. I install it because I occasionally forget to check.

i am always leery about these things. if amazon provided one, i would be OK with it, but third parties . . . . why other things are they doing? mining bitcoins? watching the keyboard for passwords? changing your charity?

of course, if amazon wanted to, they could just leave a cookie behind and flip you to smile themselves. . . . . .

well, comparing the images, it appears to me that the AWD one has beefier wheel sets and the bracket that holds the handle on too.

of course, the deal is almost twice as much, so it your needs are lighter, or more occasional, go HF. if your needs are heavier, or the consequences of failure are greater, i would consider the AWD one.

of course, remember that since i posted the deal, it is something that i was not interested in, so my opinion is more academic. . . . . . .

the bahco set is a UK product. on amazon.co.uk there are several sellers at 25-35 pounds, exclusive of shipping. The UK listing includes in its listing: "Spare handles for pick axes with a round eye" and has a 4.4 rating from 66 reviews.

It's going for 60-ish pounds (~$75) on several UK tool sites.

per the camel for the US site, it's around the low end of its typical amazon price (they don't track shipping) but there have been a couple short-term drops to 33 and a single bump above 40.

if you want it, I'd recommend to get it from the US site so you can return it easily (US return policies apply) if you don't like it. the chrome looks "pebbley", like a rough satin finish.

They do this periodically. I ordered back on 8/8 at exactly the same price. Walmart may be similar now, too (it was then)

I have the 4" and 6" as well and am well satisfied with them. The 6" at $160 is a heck of a good deal for a vice of that quality.

Wilton 10076 400N, Machinists-Feet Bench Vises-Stationary Base, 4-Inch Jaw Width, 6-1/2-Inch Jaw Opening, 3-1/2-Inch Throat Depth

Costs $650-680 everywhere but Amazon and CPO have it on sale for ~$400. CPO is selling it through Amazon and eBay, but on eBay you pay tax - through Amazon you don't. Free shipping!

Amazon Warehouse also has one 'Used-Very Good' one that 'comes repackaged' for $330 + tax.

Always risks when online, IMO the safest computers are those not connected to the Internet. As always, YMMV.

https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/tips-assessing-safety-extension
"When a developer submits an extension to addons.mozilla.org (AMO), it’s scanned for a set of common issues. It may also be subject to human review. But neither of these processes guarantee that an extension is absolutely 100% safe.

With permissions messages, you can see what data and features an extension wants to access, so you can make more informed choices about the software you’re considering.

If you’re unclear how to make a decision about an extension’s safety, here are a few questions to ask yourself:

Is the extension from a brand or developer I trust?

Most extensions, however, are written by individual developers who aren't well-known. So you might therefore want to ask:

Is the developer’s website, their blog, or social media activity consistent with the features of the extension?

Also consider:

How many other users have installed this extension? Does it have a good star rating and positive reviews?

If the extension doesn't have many reviews or you're still not reassured, then consider:

Are the permissions requests consistent with the features of the extension?

For example, if the extension is requesting access to your location, is there a location feature included in the description of the extension? In some cases, though, it may not be obvious how certain permissions relate to a feature of the extension, so you should ask:

Does the extension’s description on addons.mozilla.org (AMO) include an explanation of why the extension is requesting these permissions? Is the explanation consistent with the features of the extension?

(If you'd like more information about every potential permission request you may encounter, please see Permission request messages for Firefox extensions.)

For an even deeper analysis:

Does the extension have a privacy policy? Am I comfortable with the collection and processing of my data under the terms of the policy?

After probing these questions, you'll hopefully be satisfied that the extension is requesting an appropriate set of permissions.

While the vast majority of extension developers aren't interested in stealing your personal information or doing anything nefarious, you should be aware there are occassional bad actors. Always heed caution when installing extensions or any third party software."

I ordered the Yost vise. There seems to be considerable confusion as to whether it is a forged vise (like the one pictured above, with welded assembly), or ductile iron (all cast). Descriptions are conflicting (says ductile iron, photo is forged) but from people's reviews it appears the current offering is ductile iron, not forged as pictured. Just FYI as I still expect a danged good value for $153 + tax.

OK, I don't have much experience with vises, but can someone tell me what makes that one worth $100 more (on sale) than this one:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009AGFLD6/?tag=atomicindus08-20

It is in the build quality and the matching between the parts. Yost is a good brand with different levels of quality that is reflected in the price.

The high end (red color) is forged from ductile iron (130,000 PSI strength) and not from cast iron. It is stronger and less prone to cracks. There are adjustment screws to control the level of "play" and the lead screw/nut seems to be better. They also have special jaws to hold pipes and the jaws are replaceable.

I have the following 3 metal working vises from Yost and they are really good and a great value in my experience/opinion:

6" Heavy-Duty Forged Steel Bench Vise
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DMDO9AE/?tag=atomicindus08-20
(the price is further down today to $153.90!!!)

4" Heavy-Duty Forged Steel Bench Vise
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00E8IWTHC/?tag=atomicindus08-20
(almost the same price as the 6" today, buy the 6"!)

5" Heavy-Duty Multi-Jaw Rotating Combination Pipe and Bench Vise
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00CBL62HQ/?tag=atomicindus08-20
(very good for pipe work and other large items)

I hope this helps.

By the title it says it was created for anything NON TOOL. I was just curious because I was never interested in looking in this thread because I thought it was NON TOOL as the title says. I definitely wasn't going to read 5000+ posts to find the answer. I checked the first and last page and didn't see anything so I thought I would ask.
