Apologies in advance for a somewhat off topic post but I was just unboxing a recent AWD purchase I made and it got me thinking that I had no idea of the quality of some of the things I buy and post outside of some reviews I see and perhaps whether it’s this thread or another it might be helpful to have some real world opinions so that when another items pops up you can be a little more informed before pulling the trigger so to speak.

For example, I just got these Grip wrenches that are 2 1/8-2 1/2 and they are stout.

bc45c1637a0e182f6a7c4cfc3a8474bc.jpg

I had no idea of the quality before I bought them but I have been looking for a 2 1/4” wrench for awhile and I really didn’t want to shell out 75-100 bucks for a single decent wrench. These popped up for 38 bucks and I grabbed them thinking that if they were junk I wouldn’t be out much money.

A52 has posted Grip wrenches before and while I have seen them when looking for deals I passed and I wasn’t sure of the quality. After seeing these I will post them up when I see them.

So after that rambling the questions are 1) post reviews in the thread 2) leave it as is 3) start another thread for reviews 4) shut up Duke and stick to posting deals...

3) start another thread for reviews ...
I appreciate the work you put into this thread Duker. Of all the threads in this forum this is the one I'm most likely to find a deal in. All of the others are either gone before I get home from work*, are not available in my area (Lowes or HD), or simply outside my area of interest.

I vote you start a new thread for reviews with a link back to the deal in this thread. That way if we see Duker has posted we know it's a new series of deals.

*I cannot open links at work due to the forum's use of the virg-something linking. It sets off the alarm bells at IT no different than if I was using my mil computer to view ****. This has the effect of excluding .mil and probably .gov users from going to the sites linked here. I'm pretty sure there is no deal here worth losing my job over....

I vote for a separate thread - that way this thread stays focused on deal announcements and those that care about reading reviews can read the other thread.

I see no need to apologize for sharing good info.

I vote #1 post reviews in the thread.

Thanks for all your hard work posting deals. I've acquired some awesome tools as a result.

Duke, no matter what you do, not everyone is going to like it. You started this thread because some people didn't like members were posting non tool related AWD in the other thread. I don't think everyone will be writing a review for every item, who knows I might be proven wrong.

I say write your review and move on.

Hope all is well with you and your family.

Just because it is a good deal is no reason not to check the reviews already posted on Amazon before you buy it. I would think that those would suffice.

I vote do what you want and let the whiners go back to the other thread.

True enough! Or at the very least if you want a vote you should be a regular contributor here, and I bet most of the whiners aren't. There's really only 2 - maybe 3 - users that post deals here w any regularity (I'm not one) so it's ironic for all the "takers" to complain about, well, anything.

"You're not properly doing all the legwork and finding deals for me and feeding it to me in a format I like." Uh huh.......

x2 on this

I often find it helpful when we veer off into a review. If it is an item I am not interested in, for whatever reason, it is no big deal to just scroll down.

I am a short timer on GJ, but I always look at this thread and I very much appreciate Duker's efforts (and a52). Duker, please do as you please.

I have been trying to post a few items myself to try to give back to the thread as I have gotten some great deals on items I really wanted.

I have learned that it is a good bit of work and time to post deals, and I am grateful to all who do the work and take the time to try to help out the group.

5.28 was too good a deal to pass up especially as I lack a pair of these pliers. Thanks for the post.

Thanks for the feedback guys. I was just curious if there was some interest in more information of deals and maybe improve the process and increase participation. At this stage I would say if there is something that folks want to point out positive or negative post it up. Otherwise I will assume ..." if it ain't broke...."

So, with that out of the way... deal time... trying this from a new computer... hopefully it posts ok...

Something for Bruce aka the Crabman!

Duker,

Something for Bruce aka the Crabman!

Thanks for the post, I grabbed it.

I had previously bought two of these that you posted. Problem is when one of them came it is big enough to fend off the Queen Mary! The second smaller one will be great for my project. The weather is turning here so getting to be time to install.
