Made a quick trip to our favorite pawn at lunch and came away with our pockets lighter and our boxes heavier.

Couldn't resist these... there were 19 wrenches in the lot and a buddy and I went halves. I came away with 8 of my choosing, he took the Armstrongs from 2 to 2-9/16 and a few Protos as well.

I got five Wrights, a really nice Proto 2", and a couple of more experienced Protos. Replacement cost on these behemoths adds up to about $1175... I paid about 10% of that. 10 cents on the dollar for US wrenches almost always goes home with me, need them or not.

That's a regulation full-size Lone Star beer can in the pics for scale...

those things are cool. those are the kind of tools that you can show to a non tool lover and even they will understand. "This is an awesome tool only wielded by someone who knows what they are doing"

I've been hitting the pawns in the Austin area almost weekly for 26 years, looking, digging, buying, getting to know managers and staff, and figuring out which ones are the sweet spots and which are the wastes of time.

So I'm sure you'll understand when I say "Not a chance!"

That's just balling out of control! lol Cool converation pieces though. That's a good price you paid too, but I suspect there isn't much demand for wrenches this size, especially among the average pawn shop customer!

You couldn't have bought one of those wrenches in a pawn shop here for that price. I haven't seen Snap-On under 80% of retail, even with rust.

Wow, those are BA! I wouldn't have thought twice either. Heck I'd keep one by the front door, just in case.
