I ordered two different sizes of grade 8 bolts from McMaster-Carr a couple of weeks ago. One box said made in USA, the other said made in Canada. You might try them for whatever you need.

Rockford branded bolts at Grainger are made in Rockford, IL.

I worked for a number of years in the fastener distribution biz. There are still a lot fastener manufactured in the USA/Canada. Bolts are so cheap relative to their weight so they only go offshore when produced in extreme volumes.

I bet those bolts from Canada had a triangle on their heads. If so, they came from Infasco that is probably the largest mfg of standard fasteners in the North America. http://www.infasco.com/Splash/index_En.html

Oh, you probably won't find many standard USA made nuts. Due to the limited variety and high volume, almost all of standard nuts are from Asia.

Joe, your right about the standard bolts/nuts. Grainger has just about done away with Rockford and gone to other brands of foreign made fasteners. Even the boxed Rockfords give a list of countries that they are produced at. But I will say Rockfords quality seems to still be good. Bill

Yeah, all of my fastener expertise expired in 2001 so I'm probably a few years behind on the latest developments in the industry.

Another fastener brand you might find from the USA is from Lake Erie Products:
