So does **** a thing still exist? I need to get a new one or two and would really like to not see the word China on it.

Go to sears and get the red premium square, they are Empires better line rebranded craftsman. When I worked construction I used these, great heavy guage alum. They are USA made too, glad to see some other folks refusing Chinese ****.

The silver craftsman ones are really good I have 2. Also the blue Empires at Home Depot are awesome and made in the heartland.

I'll stop by Sears tomorrow and have a look. The warranty would be nice. I have been know to use them to guide cuts with a cutoff wheel before

Yea I know, but when you are in a hurry or don't have any around, you make due.

That's why I got them vs at home depot. Here I'll dig a link up for you they are the same as the Blue premium empires at Home Depot.

Actually looking at the photo sticker says made in USA.
Tile guys like the big plastic ones cause they wont mar the tile or corrode being left in the tile saw.

Swanson and Empire both make plastic versions in 6" and 12" sizes - I have both, one in hi-vis orange and the other in yellow.

Ya know I am all for buying USA made. I read threads like this and always wonder what the people that are so focused on USA branded tools are driving> Think about it how many USA jobs is someone saving buying, in this case a USA made square. Would not the economy be better off spending ones time and funds purchasing USA vehicles?
I see people in stores throw temper tantrums over some china made hardware and run right out the door and jump in their tundra and drive off .... Is that not an oxymoron ?

Tundras, like many so-called "imports" are made in the US, while many so-called "domestic" brand vehicles are made outside of the US
I've never understood the "BlarblargblargI'llneverdriveanimport" people who finish telling you all about the evil Jap cars destroying the economy then they go jump in their "Murican!" brand car that is actually made in Mexico or Canada (such as my Silverado, made in America's Hat)

I buy USA when I can , I think it helps. I can't afford to go buy a Tundra so I contribute when I can EVEN IF IT IS SOMETHING SMALL. To the OP, I have plenty of Swansons and they're all USA (even my newer one) I also have a new Empire that's USA.

I'll never buy a new car so I guess what I drive is inconsequential. I try and purchase American made tools whenever I can, not just because they are made "here" but because so many things I've used coming from China have let me down.

post 12. lol. i do tile work. when you get in a hurry tossing the square around you can chip a tile pretty easy. i usually get whatever is on sale at harbor freight or the dollar bin at pawn shops. they get abused pretty bad.

Tell me you have an Imer or MK Diamond tile saw? Or equivalent made in USA tile saw? Assuming you use wet saw?
You mention the red Craftsman ones. Are the 'aluminum colored' ones equivalent, not as good, or whatever? They are both USA made, mine are the non red ones.
Did I buy the less good ones? they are square AND triangular.

Those are excellent ones as well, I believe made by Empire, I have one, what I like about the red/blue ones are they stick out like a sore thumb, and are easy to read the markings on them. Both will work, and both will work well. The Aluminum Colored one is thinner I believe only difference. I am partial to the colored ones cause in construction they get dinged up pretty good, to me the thicker ones lasted longer, but its a non-issue as you can warranty both I suppose.

Wal-Mart's cheap house brand of tools has Made In USA plastic squares. Thought that was cool.
other subs that are on the job get amazed when they see me cut a circle in a piece of tile with a grinder. just another toilet hole to me.
