I bought a brand new ar10 rotary phase converter around 2016 and the idler motor has been making a screeching humming noise since I got it, the noise comes and goes and does it on and off after I shut it off and motor slows to stop. They had me take it to service center and they looked at motor and said it was fine and bearings were good and didn’t make noise. It’s almost like a harmonic from the fan. So American rotary basically told me to pound sand when it was under warranty. Now that’s long gone and it is still doing it. I maybe run it 30 hrs a year. I reached out to them again and no help. I am worried about it burning down my shop. Anybody have any ideas what to do?

My phasematic 10hp makes some noise. I quieted it down a bit by putting insulating blocks under it to stop vibration harmonics. I quieted it some more by adding capicitors to the 3 phase output to balance the power a bit better. It still sings a bit.

Get out the scope and differential probe and discover what harmonics need filtering.

I bought an American Rotary from AMAZON.CA It arrived is good condition after travelling the width of Canada and a tour of Calgary. The packaging was trashed, but the contents were OK.
I have had my AR for a few years. It is silent. I cannot hear it even after getting hearing aids. I suppose I should assemble it one of these days and try it out.

It's making noise after stopping? I don't think it's the motor. The motor would only be making noise, fan, bearing, whatever, while it's spinning. If it's making noise after you shut it down and it stops, I would be looking at delaminated coils in the box. Maybe a transformer or toroidal filter?

Before I clicked the add to cart, I called Keith Rucker of You Tube fame and fortune. He has AR. He strongly recommended the brand. I did the due diligence before making my choice. While there were a few reasons to buy a VF, the rotary phase converter my wants and needs, perfectly.
Within 30 minutes of my purchase, The Canadian distributor of AR called me to answer a few questions they had. They wanted to make sure I understood the product. They wanted to make sure I had made the right choice for my intended use.
I decided to mount the AR to a cart. I want to be able to move the AR unit around the shop. I will be able to plug it into my welder outlet. I will be adding a welder 220V to the cart so it can act like an extension cord.
