Thanks John,
Everytime one is finished, I'm done forever!
Then something sparks a thought and here we go again.

Royce, I thought this was your last vice stand thread that maybe got bumped. Glad I looked because here we go again with another piece of functional art. Really impressed with your creativity and skill. I retire in about 2 months, can I drive up and sleep in your driveway and be an apprentice? :bounce:
Thanks for posting, great job. What color on this one?
Do you keep all these or sell them?

Awesome work as usual Royce. Don't get to see the posts on the FB group since brian booted me.

I wonder if this is Gman (bart's) old 58.....

Thanks Jay,
Congratulations on your retirement.

I don't know if you want me as your journeyman, I'm pretty rough on apprentices!

I'm thinking this muddy green with dark blue accents, just because it is what I have on hand.

I've given a few stands away.

Wow fantastic work again Royce.

But.
After seeing these masterpieces one after another, my vice stand is no longer acceptable and a superior one will have to be constructed. So yes, same comment as Keyblazer...

Rattlesnake

I have a fear of commitment, when it comes to permanently mounting equipment in the shop.
Wheels are a crutch to that fear!

Justin,
You can't bellyache, we all know you love designing and constructing more than most!!!

Yup, lol.
I just love what you do Royce......
But, every time I see you projects I’m wow’d, humbled, etc.... and then that sinking feeling in the pit of my stomach comes when I realize I am failing.... horribly in comparison.
But that’s ok.
Inspirational stuff hits you like that and spurs us to greater efforts!
Kudos!

Thank you kindly Keyblazer
You mention failing, I could not disagree more.
Anytime something is built, it is a achievement, even when it may not function or look as good as desired.
When looking at past projects, what I mostly see are the shortcomings.
I believe that is what keeps us keeping on.
Please excuse this unsolicited philosophy.

I feel the same way, sometimes I'm my own worst enemy. I just finished setting up a 10" Unisaw w/52" fence on a mobile base, I cut the adjustable legs off twice because I wasn't happy with them. I'm happy with V3.0!

Trim

I'm digging the colors, but then again, I'll wear mismatched socks.

A tour de force of skills and creativity, thanks Royce for sharing.

Please make sure all the amazing projects you have end up in a museum or good home and not a scrap pile! (Ie you ever have a garage sale, tell GJ first!)

Cheers to that spark that revs the imagination!

Looks great Royce, I need one of those lights. The anvil block covering the square slider is a great idea. I have been slacking and just started the jaws for you. This vise is in amazing shape and perfect for a vise stand. The jaw screws are all over the place and led me to believe the holes were drilled and tapped on location. Kevin

Thanks Kevin,
I believe I have another light in the bone pile, I'll see about getting it headed your way.

I'm thinking the slide cover will prove handy, too.

No worries about getting the jaws done, the beauty of retirement is doing what you want, how you want, when you want!

Those screw locations may have been done by the bosses nephew!

You bet,
I made that for scribing and notching house logs a few decades ago.
It has been useful for a lot of different fit up jobs.
I am kind of proud of it and it is my favorite self built tool.

It is made from a planer knife, round file, 3/8" and 1/2" stainless tubing, chain link and a small piece of flat bar to mount the level.

The 2 vial level was made by Stanley and is easier to keep everything plumb than a fish eye level.

Just love the in process pics Kevin.
I hope to finish it this weekend, if nothing else pops up.
Can't hardly wait to see the tiny one.
Thank you a bunch
