Anyone know where to get these? I have 4 of the Cadet 3 toilets and used to be able to just buy the seals but know I can only find the complete flapper (red Fluidmaster model 540).

I called American Standard earlier this week but after 25 mins on hold, I had to take a work call and they picked up or hung up during that time.

Those seats should last a very long time. quite a bit longer than the flapper itself.

WHY are your's failing ?

You do know about like not using the tablets in tank etc... yes ?

I know that these shouldn’t be used but Mrs Fourjeepin sometimes doesn’t believe me. She now knows not to use the tablets.

I work for American Standard. As far as I can tell we only sell the flapper assembly as a repair part. I can ask a couple of the other engineers to see if they know anything about getting the seal by itself.

When do you need them by? I know I probably have a few lying around my desk but I won't be going in till probably the new year.

Wow, that would be awesome. I am not in a hurry as I replaced the entire flapper in the one giving me the most trouble.

Thank you for the help! I am a huge fan of the Cadet 3, except for not being able to get just this seal. I also have a Champion 4 and can buy just the seal for it.

Okay glad you fixed the bad one. And as you have learned tank tablets or any chemicals in the tank are bad.

Glad you like our toilets so that I have a job lol. The Cadet is probably the best value.

I used to work in Chinaware design. My last project was a new Cadet with a different pedestal and got into hydraulic design on it.

Off topic, but since we’re talking tablets... recently noticed blue water in the bowl... uggghhhh!!!

Then I noticed the toilet in the guest bathroom was constantly running??? ...not only had Mrs Toolin dropped a tablet in there... but she’d dropped it on top of the float!!!

If you ever see a box of those “flushable” wipers, throw them away. Even if she keeps buying them. Keep throwing them away. Much cheaper and easier than a backup.

I let mine call the rooter guy and pay the bill. Besides the large bill, he was super annoying and she now listens when I make a suggestion regarding a mechanical system.

Cadet 3s are the best toilet out there value-wise. Whenever I redo a bathroom, it's the only toilet I install. I have them in my house, family members' houses, friends' houses, etc... They're affordable, use readily available (and cheap) repair parts, and almost never clog. The tank also bolts down flat to the bowl without any drama. I can't say the same about the last Champion I installed, and don't even get me started about Kohler toilets. I'm a Delta guy for faucets and shower valves, but I'll never buy anything other than Cadet 3s when it comes to toilets. To the American Standard employee: please tell your company not to change them (ever).

I was shopping for toilets recently and I was going with the American Standard Cadet 3, I thought it had the best value among all and as a plus, the rim height is conventional 15". I dislike high seat toilets like the Champion 4 (16.5"). But then the Cadet 3's weren't readily available and I chose to rebuild my 28-yo Gerber.
