We had a brief power outage today. Once the power was restored, our heat pump began heating the house. I noticed the inside temperature was getting warm, so I went to turn down my Nest thermostat and noticed that the temperature was up to 80 even though the thermostat was set to 68. Long story short, I was unable to turn off the heat pump with the thermostat.
I eventually pulled the red wire from the wire block on the Nest and everything stopped. I pushed the wire back in, and it started heating again. I tried shutting off the breakers to the heat pump for a while, but when I flipped them back on it started heating again.
The outside temperature is 67 and based on hot air coming out of the registers I believe it is using aux heating.
Any ideas would be appreciated!
