American Steel Span

Has anyone here bought through this company? Sounds like the "P" series will be best for my needs, and I like the simplicity of setting these up. Any thoughts are appreciated.

There are several companies marketing this same type of buildings, each claims to be the best, all claim to have unclaimed and rejected orders available, a very old and common sales ploy, which you do not want to believe.

If you go this route, DO NOT attempt to do the standard gutter anchoring system on the sides of the slab. You form a gutter when you pour the foundation, set the walls in it, then pack concrete inside and out to anchor it and seal it. It is very timeconsuming and tedious to do a decent job of this (I've never done this but the next door neighbor did, and said he would never do it again). Instead buy the optional (under accessories) BASE CONNECTORS which are flat steel plates that anchor to the slab with anchor bolts and have vertical pieces welded to them that the wall panels screw to.

I am putting up a similar brand of building, same style. They are labor intensive, but alot cheaper. , Do you have pictures of yours now to post?

I built a similar building. I can't remember if it was the p series but it was a straight upright wall with approximately a 4/12 appearance of the roof.

I did not know about the base plates until i had already paid for my building. I think they were offered to me for about $1800 for a 30 x 40 building. I choose not to get them which i see was a mistake. most concrete businesses did not want the job because of the high labor involved and the amount of steel required in the foundation and their bids were very high. my county building inspector recommended a concrete company that worked with me and quoted a price less than half of what the others did.

my recommendation is get the base plates, and rent a scissor lift to complete the building. do not rent a bucket lift, they are just a waste of money for this.

one more thing to consider.

if you are considering a roll up door, consider the height of the door opening, height of the door "roll" when it is fully open, and the loss of height by the peaks and valleys of the building. if you don't order the base plates you lose another 6 inches dropping the building into the foundation.

my building was ordered with a 16w X 15 tall opening. I dropped this to 16 X 13 opening and by garage door rubs the roof when opened all the way.
