I have been reading up as much as I can and want to DIY epoxy my garage floor. I have around 650 sqft. I have read so much I have confused myself more than when I started đŸ˜’.

I stopped into a local PPG store today and they quoted me 2 kits of Amerlock 2/400 with cure and 2 gallons of Durethane DTM. They said that would work great for a garage floor and is easy to work with.

Any opinions on this?

Considering similar as I can source locally (case I run short) and get at near store cost which is less than half price of anywhere else.

1st see this thread:
https://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=381979
He is using PPG Pitthane

Durethane is listed as a 'direct to metal' product (although may be just marketing of the same formula as other products)

My buddy at PPG recommended AMERshield to go with AMERlock

Can get in clear or colors.
He recommended 2 epoxy coats, thin 1st by 15%.

As you know, there is more than one way to do a floor. PPG has lots of urethane products. And lots of thinners. Good prep is the key.

Also ask local store about mis-tints of epoxy if doing colored top coat or multiple epoxy coats.

Thanks for the reply. I see so many quality kits within this forum, it’s hard to make a decision. I would think local purchase for the convenience , but want to make sure the quality is the same.

I saw that about the durethane and thought the same. I ended up reading a little further in the data specs and they claim it can be used on concrete
