I have always looked at this site on and off over the years. Using this thread as some motivation....to really get the garage in order.

Welcome any input/ideas on what you see.... Hopefully insulating the garage later this fall after fixing the drainage around the outside. Sill plate got a little wet this spring after the snow melt. There is drain tile along that side that is not working correctly.

Started out in this garage with just a Harbor Freight rolling cart and a small craftsman lower. Added the cabinets about 2 years ago and put the bench in the back corner last year. Boss lady bought me the Harbor Freight upper and lower boxes for Christmas.

Here are several more pics of what I have done to the garage....the reason for getting the shop in order is that blue thing. Time to pull the motor and rebuild it. :(

I like it! And I've never seen a 2 door Wagoneer before - very cool. Hope you leave the wood on the walls exposed, a lot different that were I live. Reminds me of my grandpa's old shop back in Washington. Best of luck!

Hey she's small but mighty. Flat concrete surface to work on and a roof over your head. It's a little narrow but that just means you gotta put your storage up higher.

Any plans to insulate for the winter? Might have to do on the outside to maximize work space...

I don't see a lot of lighting. My first rec. is for more lighting. Second is more outlets (if you want to cut a corner, replace all the duplex outlets with 2x duplexes in 2 gang boxes. It is super easy and costs less than $50 to do a whole garage of outlets that way.

I know some guys like exposed beam. I don't. Sheetrock it? It gets cold in WI, even SE, right? Maybe insulate first?

Nice space anyhow. The cabinets look great. I have had recycled cabinets in nearly all my garages...

Been working on some stuff lately......my brothers girlfriend has a farm. Got a good deal and rented her shop .....off went the jeep and all of the auto shop stuff.
SWMBO has a non-negotiable garage spot.....so I was running out of room. Happy wife/happy life[emoji848][emoji1787]

Had an electrician wire in a sub panel and service upgrade to house. It’s only a 50 amp subpanel as putting in 100 amp..... would have required house 200 amp panel. Previous owner did me no favors by putting 100 amp panel/main breaker in house......on 60 amp service. [emoji2959][emoji84]

Started wiring up shop and spending more $$$$$

Here is some more of why I ran out of room in the shop ....haha. I picked up a table saw, jointer, an old Boice Crane planer, a drill press, and a router table.

Planning on turning garage at home into a wood shop. Somewhere I can come out of the house and chill out.

But someday everything will be in one spot and most of my energy has been spent elsewhere. Someday everything will be on one site.

From this.......

To this ........put up led lighting, heater, and reorganized. Moved work area against side wall in preparation for a lift.

Finally got around to terminating all of the circuits and put the breakers in yesterday.
Hooked up the electric heater .....a little smaller than I would like, but 1/4 of the up front cost for running gas heater.
Still learning and working on it. Next up insulating doors, walls, and roof

That looks like an amazing space !!

I gotta admit that I am drooling over "that blue thing" There are not a lot of 2dr's out there !!! A well set up 360 (or 365 I guess for you) and a 4spd stick is gonna be a heck of a lot of fun !!

Any other motor plans other than the mild bore and RV cam ??

I can’t say at this point....much else is planned right more. I have Holley Sniper EFI, Hyperspark coil and distributor for it. New engine compartment harness as well.

I guess I should clarify this I was the home garage and the Jeep resides up at the farm (family members where I rent a shop).

I am working on home garage and turning it into a wood shop. As well, trying to add value to the property in the most cost effective way.
It seems like it probably does to most, anytime I start something I find something else.

SWMBO has one non negotiable....must have garage parking spot. This forces me to always think about space and I always am moving stuff haha.

This was the bane of my existence for the last year......entire kitchen was white. Refinished cabinet doors, added cutout in wall (hires this out) and installed new cabinets where stove is.
Stove was where refrigerator is and vice versa.

Painted every room in the house last year .......it’s nice to finally work on shop projects sometimes haha [emoji23]
But as we all know, SWMBO always has ideas.

Started tearing the 360 on the stand down.....found out it was bored .040 over and found some water in the oil pan.
A little rust on cylinder walls ....took it to machine shop to have it checked out.
Will be getting new pistons for sure.....block honed, and heads gone over.

Intake is an older Edelbrock Torker........

Worked on some stuff this past week or so.....put a man door in and got most of the walls done. Waiting on some cabinets.....purchasing from someone remodeling their house.

Found that the electric heater I installed is pretty expensive....as I thought. Will only heat garage when I am out there working.

Might have to look at some type of gas heater. Only problem is my ceiling height is roughly 7ft.

Talked to machine shop.....all new pistons won’t be necessary. Maybe one if rings are seized on piston......it will get a hydraulic cam, heads done, block cleaned and gone through, new cam/rod/main bearings.

It’s more than I wanted to do, but that’s how it goes and motor will be good for a long time.

We’re getting some snow lately .....my father-in law gave me an old single stage. But SWMBO has a hard time starting the snow blower.

So I went and picked up an Ego snowblower.
Have to say I am impressed.....it’s not a two stage blower, but it does pretty well and it is really light. Quiet too, so I can go clear driveway and sidewalk early AM and not wake the neighbors.

We shall see how it works out, but my buddy has the lawn mower and really likes it. Maybe that will be on the list for next year.

Looking good! I think you'll find a huge reduction in heating costs after you insulate and install a ceiling. Both the woodshop and the auto shop are shaping up nicely. Good luck with the Jeep

Been working on my 93 Ranger....mostly decent body for up north here. But the core support was pretty bad. Started cutting it out.

Started to organize garage at home more. I had got a good deal on some cabinets....10 bucks a piece.

I know they aren’t custom or anything, but they will do just fine for now. Not planning on going too crazy here at this house yet.

Used a ledger board to help keep everything level.

I did go up behind the garage door track. I can still almost go over 25-30 degrees to open doors. Keeping stuff not used frequently in them.

Began laying the lowers out......

Used another ledger board on bottom......

Used scrap 2x4 for feet. I will later use 1x4 or 1x6 as a toe kick and they will tie together fine.

Used scrap sheathing from the walls as my work bench tops. Will be using 1/4 in Masonite as my work surface. Cheap, durable, and can use both sides eventually.

Been driving my Jeep as my 98 Ranger decided to start leaking transmission fluid. Ordered parts on Rock Auto and will need to install.

Been quite busy last couple years…..there were some smaller shelves in this spot.

Installed some new ones and put some stuff a little more organized.

I took all my stuff that was in shop up at farm and brought it home.

Jeep is still on the list for the motor along with finishing up Harley Dyna Super Glide.

Picked up a new to me 2010 F150…..trailer came along after working projects in Las Vegas and Texas.
Best part about trailer is it fits in driveway when not needed or can be stored at my brothers shop about 25 min away.

Using proven power locks on tongue and trailer doors. Pretty decent stuff.

My other hobby keeps me busy ha and once it is nice out is conducive to working in garage.
Prime rib roast for holidays with some family.

SWMBO’s parking spot must always be maintained….installed some more cabinets for all the stuff that came back from shop.

I upgraded the toolbox and sold the old one to my brother…..you can see what he used to use. A bit of an upgrade for him.

The Jeep still living on and waiting for her motor….this is the goal for summer.
I took a new role at work so hopefully a bit less travel and home most weekends.

A 99 Dyna Super Glide came along and is a fun little project.
I have some bags that need to go on along with rebuilding front forks, replacing seals on engine, and other misc stuff.

Trip to Amsterdam for my 40th and then off to Regensburg Germany for several weeks for work.
Time to hit the ground running when I come back and work on the garage along with the honey do list.
