Want to install in a Rental unit for a customer.
Anybody have any input on these units?
See attached photo
It looks like the inside wall unit displays are wall mounted. It looks like the units are supplied by separate A/C transformers plugged into an outlet. Circled in yellow. Where the customer wants to mount there are no outlets nearby (would have to use an extension cord - Very unsightly). Can I run a seprate transformer to power all of these head units? What wires would I use and what transformer could handle this?
Thanx in advance

Never seen or used those units?
Can you centralize a transformer? Likely, yes. We need to see the specs on those little transformers themselves and have a general idea how far away (on average) the display units will be from the central transformer.

As you'll be running wire anyway, why not put the transformer(s) in the attic or other place where there is reasonable access to to that wall where the displays will be?

The high end 12v transformers I've used are from Bird Dog lighting...

220v AC power to the main panel????

I can't believe that since you have to run wires from the main panel to each individual unit, that they just didn't use something like POE (Power over ethernet). I think I would be looking at another system....

When you plan your insulation remember the use of extension cords to power a permanent installed equipment would be a code violation and a huge liability should anything go wrong.

^^^ What they said. Do you have the system available to pull specs from?

The Amocam website lists the V7C*530-x systems and lists AC input for the display units, which is interesting. The output from the displays is 15VDC and 1.5A, so six monitors would require 9A plus whatever the monitor needs to operate the display and audio. Also adjust for any voltage drop from the main transformer to each display.

Some of the online reviews for various Amocam systems mention a possibly proprietary connector for the monitor that could cause issues if you attempt to change the system from the as-built configuration. Just something else to be aware of.

Might be easier to have an electrician add an outlet near each monitor location if the apartment building finished and this system is an update. But you're still pulling control wires from the main circuit board to the front door and each apartment/display location, so POE as Git mentioned is a better option if the customer has not purchased the Amocam system already.

what is the output of those AC transformer ? DC ??? 12? 24?

for my home cameras, 12VDC they I have gotten these DC 12V camera power supplies... which works great.. but keep in mind the runs for DC are not as long as AC without voltage drop... ... 18AWG to run along my coax ... about 100' still no issue.

something like these... or get one for different power if you wanted.

I’d suggest a wireless doorbell and screen. Easier and the way everything is going

You have the concept I am looking for.
Would it be " 4 home runs " back to the transformer unit you suggest using the 18 ga. wire?
The transformer would have 110 supplied to it.
The runs of wire would be less than 50 feet to a central location.
Splice in the wire to head unit.

You have to provide the specs of those individual transformers.
The better answer would be to call the manufacturer and ask them about a centralized transformer... I'm sure you can do what you're wanting, but we can't even guess without specs.

Maybe this?
It looks like the attachment point has ground and 15v

they do sell 15V power supplies if the 12 doesn't work for you... for camera power supplies it's usually 12DC or 24Vac

and the connector if it is not one of those DC connectors , you'll have to hunt for one.

18AWG is what came with those RG59 Siamese Coaxial cables. but you'll have to determine your run and see if the voltage drops are feasible.

the pic you post is blurry. It is best if you call the manufacture that as suggested.
