Has anyone seen one of these lifts up close?

Ampro Lift

I like the basic design. About the only other lift I know of that uses hydraulic balancing is Mohawk. I do know they are made overseas so the first question would be about quality.

The split colum design also looks like set-up would be easier.

At $2995 they aren't exactly giving them away so I am hoping they are well built.

Ampro Universal two-post lift

The new Ampro all hydraulic lift that you mentioned has a number of good ideas that also appealed to me. But after a discussion with them I decided to pass on purchasing it. Currently the Mohawk is the only other non-cabled-equalized two-post hydraulic lift on the market that I know about. And the Ampro unit certainly doesn’t hold a candle to the time proven Mohawk unit. However the Mohawk is almost $6,000.00; but it’s built like a tank and made in the USA.

My first concern about the Ampro lift was that it was made in China. But I’m finding out that other top name lifts are importing parts of their lifts or certain models in their line from China and not opening promoting that fact. Sadly,, in time it will be impossible to purchase an American lift. The foremost worrisome matter is that the Universal model is in the development stages and having design problems.

I REALLY like the idea. Figure for what it costs, you don't have to pay somone to set it up for you, whether it's buddies and you are paying with beer and food, or a real installer because you want to be sure it is done perfect. Considering that much, the price isn't that bad.

I wonder how "Industrial" it is though. Could it hold up to being used a few times a day for a few years? Probably not a concern for most of us. But, I figure if something can be used a lot that way, then to me it has a better chance of holding up in the long run in general. I'd rather purchase 1 Rotorary or Mohawk lift now for more money then deal with something that may turn out to be a real headache.

Ampro Universal Lift

I agree the ease of assembly and also the clean floor with no overhead bar or cables are nice features.

But, I also know I can get a Rotary Lift (low ceiling version) for about $3600 so not a big difference considering the Rotary has a proven track record.

The hydraulic hose has to either go over head or on the ground. They just don't show it in their pictures! You could just install an over head bar model and photoshop it out of your pictures too :)

I too am considering the Ampro universal lift. My main concern is that it seems to be a new item, for them. I don't want to be the test guy!

Has anyone seen this lift?

I never did get to see one first hand. I ended up going with the Rotary Low-Ceiling lift with a one foot extension. It just fits under my 11 foot ceilings and works great.
