While checking to see if my local Lowe's had one of the Knipex 1000v sets in stock (they didn't...dang) I did stumble across the Amprobe IR thermometers marked down from $60 to $9. My store only had the one left, so maybe it was just a last ditch effort to get rid of the straggler. Needless to say, they don't have any left now. ;)

Has to be this one: Item #: 235702 | Model #: IR607A/RL
Only one I can find around on clearance. It's down to $18 at one of my local stores. I'm going to grab one.

Will you guys all stop posting these Hot Deals. I keep sneaking out and getting more tools and my wife thinks I'm screwing around.

What section of Lowes are these in ?

Electrical tools. They're clearing out virtually everything to make room for the new Southwire Tools (more shameless name pimping) collection. My store had almost a full wall of the new stuff, and most of it looked pretty cheesy. I'm sure it is probably some semi-exclusive agreement worked out with Lowe's so that they can pocket another dime or two per tool by getting rid of the premium name brands.

As mentioned, there was only the one I bought left, so YMMV.

If someone gets one for $9, I would gladly pay $20 total to get it shipped to me.

Showing 2 at a store near me at $10.88 but will not add to my cart. After trying a few times the price changes to $23.99 and it will then let me add to cart.

Thanks for posting the deal! There is 1 thermometer left at the Willoughby, OH Lowes (after my purchase). The yellow tag posted price is $35.99. However, it rings at the register for $9.00.

I found one at my local Lowe's for $7.50. Heck for $7.50, I couldn't pass it up.

Just for comparison I tried another Lowes and they had it for $59.98! That's 87.5% off

Good deal, Thanks OP.

$12 at my local Lowe's yesterday, but the packaging one I saw had been taken apart and the thermometer/battery stuck back in.

Not worth it to me. These are pretty cheaply made to start with, let alone "used". Unbroken packaging, I'd have taken it home.

FWIW, the two times I've used Lowe's online ordering have both resulted in products that had shelf wear issues. Do they hunt those down first for online fullfillment or have I just been unlucky?

Depends, are you only buying clearance items that would obviously have more shelf time than most other current product offerings?

I bought the last one at my store for $10.58. Measures 2 degrees higher than my Harbor Freight model. I have no idea if either one is correct, but I guess close enough for my use, considering the price.

Costco (or at least the ones in my area) have a combination IR thermometer + moisture meter for wood/plaster/stone for about $35. The thermometer looks almost exactly like the one at Lowe's except for graphics on the case. I've never used a moisture meter like the one in the kit -- it sorta looks like an electronic stud finder.

Another option for folks -- keep or toss.

I just ordered one for pickup tomorrow for $14. I'll have to wait until then to see if their internet quantity matches their in-store quantity.

Good observation. That's indeed possible.

I tried again today. My local store showed two in stock. Bought one online and went over later to pick it up. Another opened package. I went back to electrical -- where the price was $47.** and the markdown to $12 was not shown on the shelf -- and picked up one with original packaging intact. Turns out they had three in stock. Now two.

First test indicate it may be reading three or so °F high. Perfectly useful, since most measurements will be relative. I haven't tested it on high reflectivity surfaces yet, but I have some black tape ready for thermostat housing measurements on my TR3.

My local store showed it for $2.70 but out of stock. Bummer. So, I had to go up the road for $7.50. Nice! Thanks, OP!
