I picked up this hydraulic crimper in early 2022. Well, I finally got around to using it last November doing a car audio installation with an upgraded 370 amp alternator. I have used a hammer style crimper in the past, and this tool is truly underrated, especially for the price. The cutters are just okay, but the crimpers worked flawlessly. The kits includes dies to crimp 12 awg to 2/0 wire, and even includes seals to rebuild the pump if needed. If you find yourself needing to crimp larger cables, I would highly recommend this kit.

can it be used single handed? I use large 2 handed crimpers usually, and there are times when it would be nice to crimp something with just 1 hand.

You can put the pump against your body/object and operate the handle one handed with ease. I made a few crimps this way myself so I had a free hand to hold the 2/0 wire.

I own the same thing in a different paint color, and it's great, but it isn't really designed around one handed use. The lever doesn't have a spring return, but I suppose you could add one pretty easily.

Yesterday I was using it's bigger brother (the 16-ton version on a 350MCM crimp), and while I largely used two hands, I was using it on a ladder, and it's pretty easy to pump with the tool in one hand and the lever against your ribs. This smaller one weighs half as much, and is way easier to handle, so long as 2/0 is the most you'll need to crimp.
