The wife is gone for 3 days over this weekend. I plan on spending full days in the garage.

Ever noticed, when you're single a great weekend includes women, when you're married, it doesn't? :headscrat

Yes. I'm reminded of this all the time.

Wife is away WITH the kids for several days now.

Spent all night (literally) in the garage the past couple of nights. Fun stuff. I can actually get stuff done.

Nothing worse than having plans for the weekend and by the end of the weekend none of your things haven been completed. I hate being unproductive.

I'd submit that women are still an important part of a great weekend after marriage only they are now engaged in sparing you the details of raising your family. Hopefully this is only occasionally as fathers can be an important part of child rearing. Enjoy the breaks when you get them! Incidentally, "raising/nurturing" a family is pretty productive in my view.

Steve, it's called: Sarcasim, Wit, humor.
Getting cold up there already?

But yes, I do enjoy the breaks. I'm gone a lot, so the wife gets the house to herself quite often, she doesn't understand that I like having it to myself at times too, which is extremely rare.

I work from home and we have a 4 year old. Today I took him to my wife's grandparents for the day so I could go to an auction and work on my garage. It's the first time in a long time that I got a lot done since I was not having to deal with him (although it's never really a bother as he's a good kid). He's never really been to a "baby sitter" and has been raised by us the whole time. I hope it helps him later in life...

Good to hear. I stayed home from the time our son was 18 months old until he was in school full time and I am prepared to stay home with our new little one once the wife goes back to work. We absolutely don't believe in daycare/baby sitters any more. It's something I never thought I would enjoy but I wouldn't trade it for anything. Our first child is now just turned 10 and we have a bond that most fathers just don't get the opportunity to form with their children. I know your four year old will benefit from the primary care giver in his formative years being a parent rather than a daycare center etc...I know ours has.

Honestly I can't understand this notion of getting the wife out of the house. When she is home, if I want to work in my garage, I work in my garage. If I want to go out, I go out. Maybe it's because I stay home lots but she just doesn't seem to have a problem with any of it. I guess I am super lucky!

rifle season (deer) opens here tomorrow, many a man is looking forward to his solitude in the middle of the woods :drink:

(and many a wife/gf is looking forward to their chance to hit "ladies night" at the local meat market (bar)...) :lol_hitti

for the record, I'm hunting in the morning, but taking my wife and daughter to the Ringling Bros. circus in the afternoon

deer beware

Yes it is getting cold out but my shop is toasty warm, so all is fine. Played road rage with a bunch of leaves today and debated changing out the mower for the snow plow. The white stuff will be here soon enough - do you need some?
