I just installed this around my doors.
http://www.genuinehotrod.com/PartDetail.asp?PartId=6551
I took off vinyl stripping around the door that had been there for 10 years(http://www.mdteam.com/products.php?category=235)
This brush design seal much much better than old vinyl seal. The brush design makes contact with the doors irregularity easier. My two 16' doors face to the north and with strong 40 mph Oklahoma winds have made a big difference. I would recommended this to many.:rocker:

Here is another location. I used the angle mounts.

Link works fine and I would also recommend that seal. I have them on all my doors and it does make a big difference.

Great info. I called them this morning and the guy "Herb" I talked to said they sell a lot of these in Alaska!

My garage is brand new and the vinyl seal around the door is junk.......I talked to them about one for an 18x8 garage door. They don't make them standard but I can order (2) 8 footers and (3) 6 footers for $133 plus shipping. Might jus have to do it!

They do also have the bottom door sealers that glue to the floor and your garage door comes down on it. Keep rain, water and rodents out. $110 for an 18' door. I thought that might be a little pricey?

I'd check ebay for the bottom seals. I'm sure they can get cheaper than that.

That's what I need to keep mice, etc.. out.

One of the reasons I've been holding off getting this product... I have white trim and a white door

That and I have a 16' x 8' door not 7'

My door is an 18x8 and they said to just buy pieces to make up what you need. See my earlier post about that.

With http://www.genuinehotrod.com/PartDetail.asp?PartId=6551 is $47. You could get two sets and use the rest of it around another entry door. You just cut the pieces to size and **** them up to each other. I cut the brush a little long to fit into the next aluminum mount.

On the bottom I use "Storm Shield". $45 from Amazon. With a rubber seal on the bottom of the door it gives a rubber to rubber seal.
I was surprised the 18' bottom seal http://www.genuinehotrod.com/PartDetail.asp?DepID=11&SecID=31&PLID=110&PartId=5938 is $74. I guess not being standard 16' they stick it to you.

Genuine hotrod side seal ones are not painted just aluminum. I painted mine brown. The brushes are black.

What else would normally get used??

They work ok, better than not having anything at all, but they aren't the end all seal or anything by any means.

That is what I have on my door and I had 2ft of snow against the wall by the door in my garage when we had some high winds a couple weeks ago. I ended up tuck taping the door around both sides and the top because the snow blowing in was ruining the drywall.

Any place that sells/installs garage doors should carry that stuff. I want to say it was around $1/foot the last time I bought some. 20ft "sticks".

Hmm, I have never seen that before to be honest.

My Dad has a good setup on his doors in the new garage he built. I wish I could remember exactly how it works to explain on here. He has the brush seal on a couple other doors and the new setup seals much better.

It is interesting to see something that is common used in one area a new discovery in another though! (the brush seals)

Unless I am missing something on Amazon the $45 is only a 10ft piece. The lowest I see for my 18' to 20' is around $89 to $99.

I have seen those brush "seals" at many industrial supply houses as well as Home Depot, ACE Hardware, and other hardware stores. They are not difficult to find at all. They have all kinds of uses.

I've personally have them in white or brown.

(Speaking of the brush seals, not the seal that goes at the bottom) I'd be all over these, since we have a lot of wind and dust from the farm fields across the street...

I can't seem to find the brush seals in anything other than black...Do you have a link to the white ones?

I guess what Home Depot, and Lowes carries depends on the region. I checked all of them out and the do not carry the brush design, just the vinyl.

Emailed the Sealease people regarding availability of clear or white filament brush seals, and here's the cordial response I got back:

No white or clear brush, just the black.

Keep looking, KC is not far from OK. With the economy many retailers are cutting back their selection. Industrial supply houses have it also. Grainger lists several types in several color combinations. Example: 3HRF7

I did not look but McMaster probably has it also. I used to buy large quantities of brush material from them.
