Please start making you combination wrenches thicker. We all know that you don't need to make the beams thicker because they're plenty strong enough as they are without being thicker, but please do it for the sake of ergonomics. Some of us have to wrap a towel around them if we're gonna pull on them hard. Your flare nut wrenches and your double box wrenches are nice and thick; start making your combination wrenches like that. :rocker:

PS. Don't forget to round off the edges.

Just go back to the OG style like the late 60's to late 80's

This is why I only buy used and vintage / classic SO wrenches.

Why do you so heavily rely on Snap-on to fulfil your tool needs? Have you considered merely buying different wrenches?

Hey Merkava,

If I am ever down through your part of the world, I would be very enthusiastic about seeing your garage. Must look like candy land to a five year old.

Adam

There's nothing special about it ... all there is is a toolbox, a Buick, and a washer and dryer. :D

I actually tried to get my thin square 18mm swapped out today, but the one he had on the truck had worse issues than the one I have. I'm gonna try the Clovis dealer on Monday, but he's a major *****, so I might not get anything.

I've got an old set of Snap-On combos (GOEX100 - GOEX240) and they are very comfortable.
I bought them at a yard sale in 2008, with the original roll case, for $20!

Snap-On wrenches have a nice feel for me, but for others maybe not. There are a lot of different styles of wrences out there try and find what's right for you by trial and error. That being said sometimes on an extremly tight bolt the beam on the Snap-On wrench can be a little hard on the palm of the hand. I have various styles of wrenches so I would just use different brand to break loose the fastener and then go back to the Snap-On for feel and ease of use. In these cases where I would use another wrench, I had to careful not to round off the head. I like Snap-On's flank drive feature and sometimes put up with a little discomfort to prevent round off. I have also found that bar none that the CrossForce wrench series by Sears is the most comfortable and useful tool in this application, breaking fasteners loose and being easy on the palm of the hand. Gentlemen tools are like shoes, there is not one tool that is good in all aplications. Yes you can run a maraton in construction work boots, but that may not be the best application of that particular footwear and you may not achieve optimal results.

I like SK wrenches for their thicker beams. My craftsman pro wrenches are a little thin for my liking but work well for me. In time I may replace them with all SK.

I use either SK long pattern or C-Man Cross-Force to break tough bolts loose. Thinner wrenches, such as Snap-on, C-Man Pro and Armstrong can be rough on your hands. Gloves can help with this, but I prefer to feel the tool with my bare hand.

Just buy Proto wrenches and sell the SOs to pay for a much nicer more extensive set of brand new Proto wrenches. Seriously do you think SO even gives a **** whether or not you think their wrenches are to thick? No you might buy $100-200 of Snap-on a year, they care about the guys that buy that much and more in a week to a month.

I agree that Merkava should just vote with his feet (wallet) if he doesn't like the stuff Snap-on makes.

However, I don't see where he would get sets of Snap-on flat wrenches to be able to sell as you describe (besides all his other Snap-on stuff), by only spending $100 -200 a year?:headscrat

Don't know either. I spent $500-ish the other day and that included one set of wrenches.. :headscrat

I've got a 3/4"x13/16" SO flare nut wrench and it's THICK.

Nice and meaty and comfortable. :)

I just figured out why you like the "healthy" adult actresses...they remind you of Snap-On...you can fulfill your fantasy of making sweet love to your toolbox. Do you slap a Snap-On bumper sticker across their back before ya give em a go?

Merk, it sounds like you made some positive comments toward Wright, why don't you try them?

If a tool isn't comfortable to use, it won't get used, and that is a waste in more ways then one.
