Anchor Bolt Question

I purchased a used Challenger lift and of course did not get anchor bolts with it. I've read the manual as well as another manual on a different lift and both advise to drill all the way through the concrete if possible. I've used red head wedge anchors previously but was always advised to drill 3 to 3-1/2" down into 4" concrete. Do you still use this type of anchor bolt even though you drill all the way through the concrete or is there a different type of bolt I should be using?

I used Redheads on mine. Drilled clean thru the slab. The thought is that if you need to move them later, you can just pound the studs flush with the floor.

Buy a quality anchor bolt. When we installed my Father's lift, the cheap anchors that were included wouldn't grip or expand. We stopped using them after three were bad and used Redhead for the rest. No problems.

All the way through the floor for me, then clean out the holes. I also used some real spendy anchor bolt adhesive in the holes. Some web sites said, don't use the adhesive, some places said it was a must for a lift. I think I spent just over $100 for anchors and one tube of adhesive.

Not to be a spoil-sport, but drilling through the slab can introduce ground water into the equation (depending on your water table). I only drilled as far as the manuf. recommended.

When I did mine I put the nut on the top of the anchor with the washer and pounded it down through the lift plates and then tightened it.
