Anchor Bolt

Planning stages-
Situation: Monolithic slab with one row of block for the curb,, followed by a normal 2x6 wall sitting on the cinderblock curb.
Question:
My city doesn’t require the anchor bolt to extend into the footer. They simply require the anchor bolts to extend at least 6 inches into the curb. Seems to me it would be a much wiser idea to have long anchor bolts (12 inch’s) be set in the footer which the slab is poured and and than play the block on the anchor bolt (certainly filling the cinder block voids). Thoughts? is is necessary, overkill???

I put rebar dowels in slab every 4' and grouted block. I think it's easier than lining up and using long j-bolts but I agree with you - I'd like blocks anchored as well as bottom plate.

I'm in hurricane country; we have to have the j-bolts down into the footer every 40in or so. I used some little brackets to set them all in place before the pour, made life a lot easier.

If the block isn’t anchored to the mono slab, then you don’t have much anchorage. Yes, better to anchor bolt into the slab. Or dowel the blocks every couple of cores, but probably easier and stronger to use longer anchor bolts.
