I am new around these parts, although web searches in the past have brought me here a time or two I have never stayed long. Now that that is out of the way lets get to the point. A year ago my wife and I bought a new house on an acre with no shop. My wife, knowing full well i would build one was hoping since I didn't mention it at the time she would get lucky and I would just be happy with what I have. HA! She has now learned my favorite picture is that of our official survey. It serves as my, treasure map I guess you could say. So, back to the title, my wife thinks I'm impulsive...this is because i will start building something she thinks is spur of the moment, later to realize months prior when I brought it up as we were sitting on the couch late one night as she was cruising her iPad, rolled her eyes and let out a "oh nice dear", I was not only serious but the planning had started.
I am an aircraft technician by trade but my passion lies in automotive restoration and modification. Currently I have an all original 1967 Corvair Monza 140 Coupe, fully road legal and driving. I also have a 1952-54 Chevy 3100 pickup that is in the process of a complete frame off custom/mod build. I say 1952-54 because the frame is a 52, titled as a 53, the cab is a 54 and all the fenders came off a 53. but all that is chronicled in other forums.
And now, the moment you have all been waiting for, the reason I am here...I am in the planning and development stages of building my shop. Currently I have chosen the plans for a 36'x28' two level 2.5 car garage. Due to rediculous easments chopping up my acre I am unfortunately limited to the location i can build. Due to a drainage creek that goes diagonally through my property (very beautiful to look at, a pain to do anything with) anywhere I build will require extensive dirt work and immense planning. That being said this will be a CASH rolled, slow project, but hey a paid for shop is well worth the wait. Lucky for us we do not live within any incorporated city limits and are only required to get an initial build site inspection by the county to ensure build lines do not overlap easements. I will be completing (with the help my friends and family) most of the work past the concrete. So without Further delay here are some pix of my growing plan.
