Decided to learn google sketchup. After a short time I was hooked, entire garage drawn to scale. Wife thinks I lost my mind.

I believe you are referring to the canister for the central vac system.

Nice, I guess I've never seen one of these. This is a great thread, I would kill to have 2 separate garages like this. 1 for woodworking and the other for everything else. I hate getting EVERYTHING covered is saw dust and haven't installed any sort of dust collection yet. Your setup is nice!

cagullett1,
Thanks for the kind works. I was very happy with the layout when I purchased the house. Your idea on the separated wood working space is exactly how the original owner had it set up. He used the single bay as his workshop. For me the separate space for the Harley was perfect.

More Gladiator Cabinets!

With some recent sales at Sears and Home Depot I was able to pick up some Gladiator cabinets at a substantial savings. I was finally able to get rid of the built in shelf that was existing when I moved in. The other addition to the garage is the wife's new jeep, fits with room to spare. Little bit of mess due to an exterior paint project. As you can see I still need to hang the ladder on the wall. Overall I am very happy with the progress. Let me know what you think.

Wow its been a long time since I updated this thread. Guess things have been a little busy and time is flying by. I have had some fun things going on lately. A few improvements to the garage, Harley motor upgrade, and a new welder

Got this welder and accessories brand new at a pawn shop for $485. Best deal I could find. Lincoln 140 Pro mig

Weld from the mount I made to the trailer frame

That's all for now. Ill post up my latest sketchup rendering in a bit. Its become even closer to the actual garage since I last posted. Also have some other garage improvements that I haven't taken photos of yet.

Making some progress in sketchup. Maybe time to draw the whole house?

Question on a welding bench. I need a solid steel welding surface for small projects. I am considering getting a steel top to put on top of my wood cabinets in the single car garage area. Would this be a bad idea even if I built a frame to isolate is a bit from the wood? Other option I am considering is building a table with 2" tubing frame and a 1/4" steel plate top.

I'm sad to say that life/ work got in the way and the house is on the market. Made a move from Colorado to the Chicago area for a new position in the locomotive industry. The move needed to happen fast so I ended up renting a 2 story home with a 2 car garage. Unfortunately it's a big step back from my 3 car garage. The new one is your typical garage with no insulation, rough drywall, one light bulb, and 2 electrical outlets. I'm starting to settle in and will start a new thread with the 2 car as soon as I have internet up at the new place.
