I've seen mention of Android Apps that measure light intensity. Are there any particular apps that you could recommend? I've seen a couple of screen shots on this site of Easy Light Meter. Any others?

I want to get some objective measurements of my shop lighting before and after upgrading.

Thanks!

I have Lux Easy Light Meter. It seems to work fine. I don't know how accurate it is but I use it more as a comparison tool. I dont see how any of them can be real accurate unless you compare them to a calibrated light meter and then adjust the calibration of the app to match. There must be variations in camera lenses from phone to phone.

I use the Kuewlsoft Light Meter app on my Android device. It's free.

They don't use the camera. All modern phones actually have a dedicated light metering sensor on the front to control things like auto-brightness. All the light metering apps just use that sensor instead.

But I doubt the sensors are calibrated in any super precise way from the factory. Most apps allow you to calibrate the phone's sensor to a known light intensity standard. But how many of us have a precision 1000 lux light source hanging around?

GPS Status has a LUX meter, seems to work well. Side advantage is you also get a lot of GPS functionality, and it is free as well.
