OBDLink dongles are a great product. Granted you can find those cheap ELM clones everywhere but this one uses a genuine chip so it supports all functions.

Its definitely one that will last and is worth the money.

Had you meant to include a link in your post? You say 'this one' but no mention of what when you are talking about.

I've got one. It works great for the price. Finding good software is the challenge. If you work on Ford the Forscan software is free and really good. I haven't found a good gm specific program for cheap/free. Lots of generic software out there but it only does the very basic.

I could care less about the wireless stuff. I want a serial or USB connection to my laptop.

I use the OBDLink MX Bluetooth version with my Forscan (Ford) software. I believe it is regarded by most to be the best and fastest of them all. Since my purchase they have released the MX Plus.

I've bought a couple and the android Torque app is pretty useful but my best advice is when choosing a wireless adapter is to make sure you get a bluetooth adapter. My first one was wifi and my phone wouldn't access the internet because the wifi connection didn't have an internet connection.
I am using this one currently with Torque and no complaints.

Another vote for the obdlink Bluetooth. Works great I use their free app. Paid $50 on Amazon a few years ago. Was a bit leery of the Bluetooth thing but it's never not connected or gotten weird.

Check out Scantool.net

I have one of their older models and it works very well with my laptop as well as my Android phone running the Pro version of the Torque app.
