Angle Drill Pneumatic

Hi, From time to time I find myself needing a certain tool.Last Friday was know exception. I required a Angle Drill. This would have made my project a whole lot easier.I had to remove the brace from the grill and use the drill press.
Anyway,I have not found a lot of information on these drills.My searching has come down to these two drills.
1. Chicago Pneumatics CP 879,3/8 .Cost around $94
2. Astro Pneumatic AST 510 AHT. Cost around $ 75.
Has anyone any reviews on these? I am undecided at this time. I have a 3/8 drive Chicago Pneumatic drill and it is great.I like the grip. It fits my hand well.If anyone has any recommendations, chime on in. Thanks Ken

No specific feedback to offer, other than to say that CP makes some good air tools. I have an IR angle drill that I am happy with, but I don’t know if they fit your price point or not and I am too lazy to look it up.

Need a chuck type or threaded bit version? Speed requirement? Reveresing or single direction only? Fixed head or rotating? Lots of options out there.

A fixed head is what is required for my needs.As to cost i'd like to keep it under $100. Both the drills mentioned in my first post are reversible.Variable speed.I never even thought about looking in the big box stores.Thanks, Ken

probably not what you want to hear, but I also need one once in a while. I bought the harbor freight one. I've used it a hand full of times and it works fine. couldn't see spending money on a limited use tool.

Not made in usa, buy a Dotco $1650.00. Buy once, cry once no point ******* around with a substandard tool that you may only use occasionally. Hell it costs as much as 70 Harbor Freight angle drills but you will have a tool you are proud of.

Would one of the 90° adapters work in your application?
These are readily available for ~$20.
I have a battery powered right angle drill at work. It was purchased by one of my predecessors. It's not a great tool for several reasons. It only has one drilling speed - slow. It's an orphan - the only tool in our collection that uses an awkward NiCd battery. It will only fit up to 1/4" bits. It doesn't have much torque.
We use it about 3 times a year. When we need it, it's handy, so we keep it and have not had a need to replace it with something more capable. I bought a off-brand battery for it on amazon or ebay about 2 years ago. Maybe when that dies, I'll look at replacing the whole unit.

I appreciate the offers however,the Astro Pneumatic AST 510 AHT found itself a good home. It is heavy, and Loud . Ear plugs should come with it as standard issue.But as of now it is resting comfortably next to the 3/8 Nano,alongside the central pneumatic in my air tool drawer.Ken

If the HF fits your price point go for it. I've had a few CP tools and they worked well except for the frickin' body saw, I threw it out and bought a Blue Point. Now I have just ordered the Snap-on 14.4V angle drill. The driver will bring it Monday. We'll see how it performs.
