I can't imagine that would be controllable.

Too much power, too small of a contact area and not enough leverage.

I could see some uses but my carbide burrs would never go near an angle grinder... Lol

I would prefer the control of a 90* die grinder of your power preference for anything that you would use that for.
An angle grinder would make short work of most 1/4" abrasives.

I've got some but I didn't pay that much for them. I don't use them for carbide burrs as I have at least a dozen die grinders (air, battery and electric) for that kind of work but I do use them with Roloc discs of both the abrasive and Scotchbrite varieties. They work great for that.

I know it's an older thread, but I thought: "why start a new one to discuss the same thing?"

These are also available from flapperadapter.com for $40. Much more reasonable than from Caswell.

I came across it because, while I have a pneumatic right angle die grinder, my compressor can't always keep up when I'm using roloc discs. I want an cordless die grinder, but those are like $300! Then I wondered - aren't there any cheap corded angle die grinders? If there are, I didn't find them, but I did find this...

I imagine you'd need a speed-adjustible angle grinder to use it with roloc discs, and you're not going to have the same control as you would with a lightweight pneumatic tool - but would it work?

I'm often all for using tools for unintended purposes , but I'm pretty sure I would say nawww to this one, unless I was really stuck. but in that case I wouldn't have the collet adapter
I know this an old thread that got bumped, but wow, I wouldn't want to be within 10' of that thing turned on.

Almost as useful as those chainsaw blades made for angle grinders.
I have one of the chainsaw blades for use on my battery powered grinder and it is the cat’s meow for grinding protruding tree roots to prevent the mower from hitting them. I never had a tree root problem until two years ago during a dry spell, then 12 roots rose up higher.

Buy the Arbortech version instead of the “chainsaw” version.
The Arbortech versions will remove a crapload of material, but have a design which limits the depth of cut per revolution to help prevent kickback and keep the blade safer.
Arbortech also makes a plastic guard that can be fitted to most angle grinders, to keep the blades safer.
The only major disadvantage is the higher cost.

I don't know about angle but straight corded die grinders are easily available. I have a Makita and a Dumore. Milwaukee also makes them.
