I have used HF, Skil, Porter Cable, and Dewalt. I'll take the dewalt any day, but the PC has been decent. I also love my dewalt reciprocating saw.

I got nuthin against the yellow, I like the feel of a couple but I spent about 800 on good ones and got 2 worn left and 100 on 4 cheap ones, 1 still runs and is 50 percent or so.
When I started I buy the best, today eay more to look for sufficient.

I have had my Milwaukee paddle grinder for years, it’s great...
And a spare Metabo in the box , it was free with a case of slicer disks
A few years ago.

I will not own an angle grinder that does not have a safety clutch feature. I own older Metabo grinders and my newer grinder is a Walter. I believe that Walter is a Canadian company with their grinders made in Germany.

I have the 20V DeWalt angle grinder and love it. It's still loud like all the rest, but is so nice to have. It's every bit as powerful as a corded one, and I have a ton of batteries for the 20V line.

Idk how ppl think youre supposed to swing a large pipe cutter under a floor or in walls. This is a job for a grinder and sawzall. If youre worried about sparks lay wet rags all around to catch the worst of it. Use a sawzall to finish the cut if access is limited and you cant plunge the grinder any deeper.

As far as grinders, i prefer the nicer dewalt 4.5” model, I used to have a makita that up until it was stolen was indestrctible. Ive had alot of grinders, where space is a concern corded has a smaller profile than cordless. A guy that I weld with on alot of jobs with is always buying hf grinders. He just doesnt seem to care about having a nice grinder, he just burns one up every other month and just buys another of the same every time. Shop around for clearance display models. you can get a brand name for $40 if you get lucky

I picked up a Diablo 9” blade. Cut the elbow at the top in 3 minutes. I strapped the pipe to the wall and started cutting the bottom… 75% thru in a minute. Decided to wait for help before I finished the cut. This blade is a beast.

As the OldWizard and others have suggested, I need to cut out the lowest tee (C) to get the plumbing job right. I’m going to bust open a closet wall in the 2nd floor bathroom to get access below Tee C. I can also replace the copper and galvanized steel supply lines while I’m down there.

Good call on visiting the big box store to try out the tools. The grip on the Dewalt DWE402 was a bit bulky and I could see it causing hand fatigue. The Makita's trigger grip was a lot better. The 7” Ridgid grinder also had a great feel to it. And Ridgid has a lifetime warranty on their products.

Walter grinder from Amazon and some of their cut off wheels. Saw a demo at Fabtech on Tuesday and was very impressed

Cut the soil stack from the 2nd floor bathroom closet and me and a friend hoisted it out. We secured it with rope to large stair post before the cut.

It took a while with the recip saw but it wasn’t terrible.

I’ll probably end up buying a new grinder and recip saw bc of this thread!

Thanks guys.

I have a Metabo that was rebranded to Ridgid. I like it a lot. The newer Ridgid are also quite nice. If you register them after purchase, you have lifetime warranty. Buy once!

I have a cheepo $9 HF grinder I picked up about 5 years ago for a single use. Well 5 years later and dozens of single uses later... it's still going strong. Nothing heavy, just small jobs. I understand that if you don't run them hard and get hot, they'll hold up for quite a while.

You'll never buy Metabo again after you experience their customer service. I do not recommend them. I can't wait to dump my metabo tools when their batteries give up.

Figure out what size angle grinder would work best. From the pics you've uploaded, probably a 6 inch. I've had some experience beating on a 6 inch Makita that cost about 150 bucks off Amazon with great luck. I have a 4 1/2 inch Fein that is super smooth and cost about 100 bucks.
