Thanks!!
The copper Wilton is just Rustoleum Hammered Copper. We can buy that in The Outlands...it's just Verde Green that can't come across the Mississippi.

And the last photo and post of a long rebuild journey. Here is Cliff and his Wilton PowRscrew vise. Note to self: Never doubt that a machinist can get something apart or that he can find seals to fix it.

I have one of these vise. it belonged to my late father. I found your posting after I couldn't locate one of these models on eBay or elsewhere. I will be checking to see if the piston is working properly.

Wow, lucky man. Don't you ever even think about selling it (unless you want to sell it to me)!!! That is an official family heirloom...

Not mention its in damn near perfect condition. Don't even try to attempt (mrkrmk) what we do to vises all day long. Those things are only original once and yours is too nice to start tearing into

Craig,
Have you found any manuals for this vise. I'm not sure on the settings when the vise is in the open position. Should the 2 ball bearings be popped out in the notches? If its like that then when tightening. What is the purpose of the pin that sticks out (there is the hole opposite of the pin), or does the pin on mine need to be driven in? It seams a lot of tightening pressure would be needed to have the pin reach the small notch cut where the bearings are in the photo. I don't want to blow out the o ring or seal.

mrkmrk, you have the best powrscrew vice i've seen unrestored. i noticed in first picture the jaws open & handle piston screwed in that would indicate it is out of fluid , the other pin sticking out on one side is a stop to limit travel when out of oil, most get shered of & the piston handle gets jamed in. if you want to get hydraulic working take lock bolt out of bottom of the front jaw & unscrew the main screw & handle assembly out of vice on the big part is the cylinder it has an allen plug remove it this is where you add oil gear oil is good, with lead screw looking up screw handle in start adding oil while unsrewing handle slowly when at end of travel out screw back in you should see air bubbles, just keep going back & fort while adding oil on back stroke & air out on forward stroke, all air must be out or it will not work. did mine like this works beautiful. good luck . yours looks so good i wouldn't take it apart just try this.

Nelson, this thread is pretty old... You might be better off sending them a PM... Just click on their name and you'll figure the rest out pretty easy...
Good luck!

Hello all
I am new to the Garage Journal. After searching several topics. I came across this thread. I happen to have a Wilton PowRScrew vise. My father purchased it new years ago and never really used it much. It is in excellent condition. He already had a 6" bullet vise that he bought in the 60's. it is also in excellent condition. So the PowRScrew was never used much. I will try to get some pictures up here if anyone is interested in seeing them.

Did any ever find/record accurate sizes for the seals/o-rings for the PowRscrew?

If I am not mistaken the hydro was mounted on the back..

Looking at his, it's a normal bullet in back (dust cap) and has some extras in front. Probably a design switch :dunno:

Edit, reading through the rest of this awesome thread makes me wonder what happened to the OP?
