I see the calculators for sizing a heater based on max. temperature rise from ambient. Is there a similar calculator that will estimate the cost for heat over a season? The heating degree days in my area is just about 5000. But that is for a home that is in constant use. How do i modify that for a detached garage that I plan to keep at about 40 degrees, but raise it up to 60 or so when I am working in it, say 30 hours a week.
I would like to compare oil, propane and electric heat for the entire heating season.
