Just got a mag drill ordered on ebay. Been waiting a while for the right one, and used my bottomless pit of United miles.

Looking for cutter brands you are happy with or brands to avoid.

3/4 Weldon shank. I assume HSS is the preferred to avoid shattering. I'd rather buy decent or mid grade than the cheapest chineseium.

Likely want...

7/16 x 2" DOC
1/2 x 2" DOC
9/16 x 2" DOC
5/8 x 2" DOC

Bonus points for 3/4 and 13/16, but those can come later. I have use for 7/16 and 5/8 right now.

I try to buy Hougen bits, so far have been very happy with them. Granted, i'm not a professional using these every day, so will be interested to hear everyone's opinion on this.....

I've had really good luck with Hougen. I have some Fein Slugger cutters that work fine, but the pilot pins aren't interchangeable with the Hougen cutters. So I've decided to just stick with Hougen.

FWIW, the drill I use them on is a Hougen. My Milwaukee mag drill has a #3 MT spindles so it's easier to just use the Hougen for annular cutters.

I buy any that have an actual name on them and are made in the first world, but there are lots of different brands available here in the UK.
