This got long so here is a summary of changes to my garage:
23D x 22W 2 car garage.
House door on left wall. Hanging items on left wall.
Hanging items on front wall.
Toolbox/bench/cabinets on right wall.
Possibly paint.
Long version:
Every few years my garage gets cleaned up*@#$ This usually involves moving everything to the driveway, then putting back inside in a more organized manner. Items left in the driveway because they don't have a home get disposed of/given away/etc.
Its been a few years so time for another round. This time I have a few goals (same goals as always).
Maximize space. Garage is roughly 23D x 22W.
Clean area - tidy, less clutter, place for everything, etc.
Consolidate and minimize.
Sleeker look.
I have a bad habit of keeping "useful" items that never get used, so I must make myself get rid of bits from old projects, even if it means throwing them away.
So many garages on here have the "wow factor" when viewed from the curb. I'd like to say my garage will have that. Realistically I might not get there. Once my garage is useful, I often stop. This means my projects always end up 95% done. Maybe this time I will follow through = paint the walls. I hope to come up with a color scheme and follow through.
My garage is deep enough for my avalanche to fit with the tailgate down. If you drive an avalanche you know you have to have the tailgate down to haul anything. In order to park inside with a motorcycle in the back, I can't have anything on the "front" wall. Also when working on vehicles its nice to have the full depth of the garage. For this reason I hope to have nothing on the front walls.
I would like to "always" have parking for at least one car. In the past my tools/workbench were closest to the house. This meant parking in the stall away from the house and walking through "project zone" to get in the house. Carry groceries while not stepping on creepers/jack stands/oil buckets is hazardous. I am planning to move all cabinets/boxes/benches to the wall opposite the house. This will give me the longest wall for "furniture" and get work items away from the house. Unfortunately this wall has no outlets.
