This got long so here is a summary of changes to my garage:
23D x 22W 2 car garage.
House door on left wall. Hanging items on left wall.
Hanging items on front wall.
Toolbox/bench/cabinets on right wall.
Possibly paint.

Long version:
Every few years my garage gets cleaned up*@#$ This usually involves moving everything to the driveway, then putting back inside in a more organized manner. Items left in the driveway because they don't have a home get disposed of/given away/etc.

Its been a few years so time for another round. This time I have a few goals (same goals as always).
Maximize space. Garage is roughly 23D x 22W.
Clean area - tidy, less clutter, place for everything, etc.
Consolidate and minimize.
Sleeker look.

I have a bad habit of keeping "useful" items that never get used, so I must make myself get rid of bits from old projects, even if it means throwing them away.

So many garages on here have the "wow factor" when viewed from the curb. I'd like to say my garage will have that. Realistically I might not get there. Once my garage is useful, I often stop. This means my projects always end up 95% done. Maybe this time I will follow through = paint the walls. I hope to come up with a color scheme and follow through.

My garage is deep enough for my avalanche to fit with the tailgate down. If you drive an avalanche you know you have to have the tailgate down to haul anything. In order to park inside with a motorcycle in the back, I can't have anything on the "front" wall. Also when working on vehicles its nice to have the full depth of the garage. For this reason I hope to have nothing on the front walls.

I would like to "always" have parking for at least one car. In the past my tools/workbench were closest to the house. This meant parking in the stall away from the house and walking through "project zone" to get in the house. Carry groceries while not stepping on creepers/jack stands/oil buckets is hazardous. I am planning to move all cabinets/boxes/benches to the wall opposite the house. This will give me the longest wall for "furniture" and get work items away from the house. Unfortunately this wall has no outlets.

The only picture that attached above is the usual project zone called my garage. The work area is in the middle and spreads out to engulf the garage. I will work on attaching other pictures to show the layout of the garage.

I started this cleanup little over a week ago. So far my garbage can has been max weight capacity for two pickups and CL is in full force. I traded up from a 26" Craftsman top/bottom box to a 52" HF toolbox. As so many threads show, the HF 44"x2 or HF 52"x1 was a tough choice. I hope I made the right one.

Below is the night I started "garage cleanup 2013".

Looks like you have alot of nice stuff

I too rearrange almost once a year, if not more. After you look at something so long, you get better ideas to best manage your space. Its like a game of very heavy tetras :lol_hitti

You have a real nice space. We all know it "gets that way" when we are working in them.
You can have your reorganize and clean up/throw away/store/move arounds, and after a whole day of a lot of work, your place looks great and your proud of it and everything is just like it should be for you. Then comes a small project. Then comes a large project.
Its back to square one and back to the drawing board!!! Up comes yet another "RE-ORG"

It is simply the disease we all have.

Best Regards
Herb Spencer

Progress as of last week. Furniture is on the right wall. Hanging items are on the left.

Working on clearing out the front wall - the old dinky work bench left last night. Cabinet should leave this weekend.

I'm looking for a color scheme. I love the look of painted floors, but can't bring myself to do it. I also do not want to paint the new toolbox. IF I paint the walls, there will have to be some red to tie it all together. A band around the center at toolbox top height or something.

Welcome to the club !
I, too, am in the middle of a cleanout/rearrange.
I'd also love to have one of the gallery/showroom garages here in GJ...but I doubt it will ever happen.
Good luck with your garage and your projects !
Remember - any step forward is progress.

Uh oh, I think somebody stole the super moto bike...

Or is that it there in pieces?

Edit: Nope, someone definitely stole it!

Looking forward to seeing your progress.
I have a standard two car myself. Although a car has never had the opportunity to park in it :)
I have lots of plans to move things, and get better organized, but they never seem to complete :/
I clean once a year I try to do a solid clean, though it's been almost 2 since my last cleaning. And it yielded 1 full 8' truck bed (with topper) of **** to the dump.

I'm envious of the guys that have very clean garages that seem like you can eat off the floor. I'd LOVE to do that, but I think that would require a separate building to store all the tools, parts and other **** :)

I say paint it! Make that the goal. If you have paint in your mind, it'll help bring the garage back together to show all the hard work you've done.

My weekend was spent playing with Hydraulics to undo some damage incurred the weekend before. Now I have a few more tools to store.

I did take a baby step towards organization. I have a 13" shelf above the garage door. I planned on 16" deep, 13" barely clears the garage door. I will use "under bed" storage totes plus a few of the small totes shown in the picture. I hope the longer under bed totes are big enough for rarely used items like paint brushes/rollers/trays/etc.

Drawer organizing progress to date. Garage reorganization has paused for a few weekends for dirt bike reassembly and dryer repair. Dryer repair is complete and this was a very nice work space to use. Motorcycle reassembly starts later this week. Someday I will get the garage done.

I hope this table will serve double duty - light duty workbench & extra table when guests are over. It will hang on the front wall when not in use.

Its about that time again. The weather cooled off and I decided to spend some time in the garage. I picked up a "work station" mainly due to a 8' 6 bulb T8 light that caught my eye. I also picked up a 14' conveyor frame with a UHMW top.

Brought it home, stripped it to the bare pieces and reassembled.
The light is hanging over my bench/box area.
The bench frame got cut down to 24" deep to match my box.
The bench was put on casters to match the height of my box.
I ran into distractions before cutting the UHMW. I hope to finish this week.

The old light support structure was enough to build a jeep door rack.
I combined that momentum with a hard top rack.
The two form fairly efficient storage space.

Work benches are done. Tops align nicely. Frame is rigid although it moves a decent amount due to the casters. 6 T5's above the bench light it up nicely.

Forgive the walls. Someday they will get painted.

Also picked up a box of drawers. Drawers are skinny, but should clean up and be handy. The drawers don't have slides. I hope they slide ok when loaded.

Took off the top third and wiped it down. Fits nicely in this corner. I hope to clean and paint red to match the benches this winter.

The rack for the jeep parts is slick and great idea. Benchs and DP area came out well. Great work there. Keep it up.

Have a good one, Gerard

Nice upgrade, looks like it fits perfectly in the corner. What did you do with the top section? Were the drawers missing? They should slide fine when loaded. Good for misc storage of nuts, bolts, electrical fittings, all that random junk that is just too good to throw away.

I have all three sections. A few drawers were missing from the top section. There for I will use the 2 lower sections. I have resisted filling the drawers untill after cleanup/paint. I dissassembled and pressure washed 2 layers of paint off all three sections and drawers yesterday. I hope to scuff/repaint the 2 best sections and drawers. The storage of misc tidbits is exactly what I planned.

Love seeing work going on in the 2 cars garages.. nice jeep
Thanks. The jeep spends too much time in the garage for upgrades (aka repairs) and not enough on the road. Fragile parts (windshield, hard top & doors) are back on for the winter, so wheeling will tame down for a bit.

I did all the work for mine too. you learn so much more about your vehicle when you do the work yourself. Very rewarding. Mine probably doesn't see the off road as much as yours as there isn't much in south Fl, but when I can do.
