Another 220V question

Running a 220V (240V) line from panel to wall junction box. This is all new work in an existing house. I already have my 50ft of 6/3, 2 Bryant (Hubbel off brand) NEMA 14-50 outlets. Will be running 25ft of 6/3 to a 50A 4 prong outlet. Have another 25ft of 6/3 for the additional run to a second plug of same.

Question: I will run this in the wall, to an in-wall junction box. But, I want to add a 2nd outlet 12 foot away. What is the proper way to extend an inner wall junction box to outside the wall? Welder/ air compressor/ EV plug-ability, although never more than 1 at a time. I am thinking of stacking the 2 boxes to attain a superior position, then run the 12ft run through 1/2 EMT to the second junction box. Thoughts?

Fairly sure putting those 2 receptacles on one circuit is a code violation. IRC code I think. If your AHJ follows IRC. Some do some do not.

I don’t think you will fit 6/3 NM in 1/2” EMT. Nor should you. THHN belongs in conduit and you want 3/4”.

Thank you for the response. My mistake. Meant 3/4, as that is what I purchased. As for the 2 outlets, I have heard conflicting views. Guess I'll call my electrical contractor.

Here is the reference for multiple outlets on a circuit greater than 20A. It's an IRC code and not all jurisdictions have adopted IRC.

In NJ, we have the NEC and the UCC which cites IRC published by ICC....... ugh. Oh, and there are sections of code that have NOT been adopted by NJ, so you can skip those....

The UCC has adopted NFPA 72 which is the NEC and ALL electrical work shall be done according to the NEC……….. The UCC has modified or eliminated "some" parts of the NEC for enforcement so you should be educated on both codes OR just do your work to the NEC which is a minimal standard.
The UCC is the BEST thing that has happened to the industry because it has created the "REHAB CODE" that states as long as things are existing you can keep them "as is" but you can’t make them worse.……. This rehab code was created because some inspectors were unreasonable and NOT using good judgement.
The UCC also states that all codes adopted by the state of NJ are uniform throughout the state……… Sadly some inspectors have not realized this and you must contact the DCA to "torque up" bad inspectors and code enforcement offices.

Its more appropriate to have a circuit for each device. It makes more sense to run the circuit after you get the equipment. Or, install empty conduit runs now.... pull in wire later.

A compressor over 3hp needs to be hard-wired, and #6 is overkill for 5hp.

Your welder's user manual will list appropriate circuit wiring and breaker sizing.
