Another Air Compressor After-Cooler Quincy Qt-5

Recently installed an aftercooler on my Quincy QT-5. Used a 3/4" Hayden aftercooler and 1" flex lines I picked up for cheap.
Water separator was the cheapest I could find for 1" lines but seems to work well.

Mounting wasn't ideal but I wanted to maintain a downhill route until it hit the water separator. I notice on alot of installs guys will have their routing going all over and that doesn't jive with gravity & water. Granted the air pressure probably pushes the water along pretty well. So water separator at the lowest point and then up to the tank.

Required some custom brackets and a metal stud for mounting the separator but overall seems great.
Temps drop from 220 to room temp before going in the tank.

FYI, rustoleum safety blue matches Quincy, Genie, and Miller blue pretty well. If you have a dark primer, even better.
Also, don't bother with amazon brass or stainless fittings (I did), it required using X-Pando to seal up from the lousy threading

Great work. I tend to be in the camp that the air will push the water through the system, but you've certainly removed any chance.

I like the idea on another cooler thread about using a large-dia pipe soon after the air off the compressor, 3" was mentioned, w/a purge valve at the bottom, to help moisture to drop out of the airflow.

I agree, pretty but probably interfering with air circulation, for the cover.

I thought the same about the cover but I had some old store shelves (from a store closing) that I needed to find a use for.
What is the idea behind the tube dryer? pretty much a desiccant dryer?

Nice build on your aftercooler. I ordered a Hayden 1290 last night and will be proceeding shortly.
Did you have the flex lines fabricated locally or did you get them off the web?
Also, I am having a tough time sourcing a large dryer with that size of fittings - what brand is yours?

Thanks
Todd

What's the reason for the small copper tube from the water trap to the tank?
That's where it goes into the tank from the water separator. The bung location wasn't ideal at first but after some thought I figured uphill from the water separator was better to keep the water out of the tank. Reason I didn't like it is because I was concerned about bumping it with a cart but it's fairly protected.

Sorry, apparently my question was poorly written. What I was asking is why the tube is so much smaller than the hose. I know that the host is likely thicker walled but it's not that thick. Seems like the small tubing would be a flow restriction.
