I have a blitz post construction shop....They have the trusses on 8 foot center.....I would be hanging sheet rock onto purlins under the trusses....Now when you look at the trusses it sure doesnt seem like it would hold all this up....When the shop was built I payed extra for loading bearing trusses.....I know all this is supposed to work but guess just wanted some reassurance. Thanks and i love this fourm

What's the load bearing specs on the trusses? There should be an engineer's drawing that give these specs. You want the dead bottom load.

Yep, you need the drawing or load rating for the trusses. One truss could hold up a ton, another might barely hold you up. In order to make sure you don't overload them, you will need the engineer or truss manufacturer to send you a drawing. This way you have it on paper from them for your shop in case they tell you wrong or send you the wrong drawing if you ceiling falls.

Once you get the drawing, cross reference the size of the beams and wood used in the trusses with the drawing to make sure it matches up. If it says 2x8" main beams, make sure yours are that size as well, etc.
