A few years ago we moved to town and I left behind my dream shop I had built ... 30x40x10 epoxied floor, in floor heat, 2 post lift. Standard construction, 16" studs, shingled roof, foundation.

This summer I had a 33x48x14 garage put up behind my house. Metal pole building slab on grade. This fall/winter I will be finishing up the inside.

Here are some pics of it:

I'm going to finish out the interior with fiberglass bats, cellulose in the attic, steel on ceiling, and probably osb, pegboard, and drywall or steel on the walls. On one end I'm going to have a 3 rooms with a 33x8 loft above them for storage. In the middle I'm putting a 2-post lift. I think I will epoxy the floor.
I have those Liftmaster openers on the doors to clear the lift and leave headroom free.
Services I ran out in a trench are 3/4" natural gas pipe, 50amp electrical service, water-line and a 4" sewer line for a small bathroom.

I'm very excited.. it's going to be a fun winter having a man-cave/shop again!

True, and I hate to admit it, but I am actually I'm already mentally taking notes for if I ever build another one... Like I wish I had spent the extra time & money to put 2" of insulation under and around the slab. I'll pay for that in my monthly bills.

Yeah, I'm VERY lucky it fit. My brother also wants to build a shop but can't... by the time he allows for the subdivision setback rules, he doesn't have enough room to build a shed on his property. That *****.

Mine was actually a VERY tight fit ... I live in town and I just sandwiched it in. My neighbor to the north will have to move her tomato garden since it is in shade now most of the day. (I did talk to her about it prior to construction, they're cool with it.). Whenever I tell someone I built a 33x48 they say "I didn't think there was enough room there". Not having subdivision setback rules helped, I just had to stay 3' away from property lines.
