This compressor has quit compressing. It is a General Air Products compressor designed for sprinkler systems, but it has been a decent little compressor for filling tires and blowing things off in the garage.

I'd like to tear into it and find out what's going on, but can't figure out where to get a rebuild kit. It says "Chinook" "30400830" & "TO - ITALY" on it. No amount of Google-ing has returned anything useful with those terms. Anyone know what it is?

If it was mine !

I would unbolt the head, where the valves live, and

give them a good eyeballing. If they are reed valves

and are broken, you might be able to get something

close to the pattern, like from Grainger's Parts div.

Good luck

I appreciate the input, Bob. That's what I'll end up doing, and I'm confident it is a broken valve.

I'm just hoping to i.d. it first so I can have the valves and gaskets in hand when I go to freshen it up. There are so many knowledgeable people on this forum it might just happen.

What did General Air Products say? I assume that was the first place you called.

Call one of the places like Master Tool Repair.

These pumps are used on various companies compressors, like HF, NAPA, & Rolair.

The pump seems to cross to the Rolair K17 series.

Just googling Chinook 30400830 returns a bunch of hits.

Look at Rol-Air K8 w/ single cylinder. Is that pump being pushed by a 1.5hp motor?

The Chinook brand are supposed to be quality brand on par with other reed valve pumps. IRRC, Rol-Air is the company that build those Chinook designs now.

Thanks Trey,
It's got a Marathon motor that I would call a two horse, as it draws 13.6 FLA at 115v. It works good for what I use it for, and was given to me by my brother (who was a pipefitter for a sprinkler company).

It is a K8, and now I'll track down the parts for it. Everything I googled led to K17, which is a two cylinder pump. I finally found the K8 going through schematics on Rol-Air's site.
