Check this out, I spotted this listing on Friday and emailed about it because I actually need a sensitive press (what a novel reason to buy a tool!)

No response from the seller, so I figured some other lucky guy beat me to it. Well, sort of. Sunday night and this ad is up:

A $350 coating of WD40, apparently.

It's been said time and time again, the early bird gets the worm. I got a craigslist app on my phone and now more oft than naught I am the early bird ;)

Are you sure it's the same piece of equipment?

The first press appears to have one hole in the table while the second has three. Could just be the crappy images on CL....

I have an app on my phone, but it's impractical to have it search for every tool I want, especially those unlikely to be seen on CL. It's definitely the same machine. Now I'll get to see it a couple times a week no doubt, since the odds of him selling it on craigslist at that price are practically nil, but that doesn't stop any of the other flippers in STL from posting their **** every day.

How is the guy a douchebag? He simply beat you to it. Not to be a **** but you're clearly sore about not getting it at the first price. I've flipped a few things before but just because I found a great deal that I could easily make more off of doesn't make me a douchebag.

I saw the exact same ad this evening and had a good laugh. Especially shining it up with WD-40.

I wish him all the luck in the world selling it at $450, because he's going to need it.

im actually surprised someone was searching for something like that with the intention of flipping. Seems entirely random to me.

There is a guy in Colorado Springs doing that too on a Chevy 292 Engine. I was happy to go look at it with the 2nd owner. He denies it completely, but the engine has several distinguishing features; a one off air cleaner, an odd paint color, a hose with a label on it, a specific oil filter, and of course no compression on the #6 cylinder!!! lol

The first ad is still up and the 1st owner even told me the name of the 2nd one, who "didn't buy it on CL" Why deny it (Other than the $200 Markup)?

I don't understand why he's a "d-bag" Guys are constantly flipping tools for profit on here. You missed out on a deal and the guy that beat you is now a d-bag for seeing an opportunity? You need a reality check.

You went through all of that because you are upset about the guy asking $200 more than what another (or even if it's the same engine) sold for?? :eek7: Who cares?! If you want it, pay the man. If you don't want to pay that for it and he won't take less, don't buy it. But don't make a big deal out of it.

I pick stuff up all the time, no matter what it is as long as I know it is being sold at a price that would leave me room to possibly make some money. I found a rifle stock at a gun shop that the owner had in a bargain bin. He wanted $50 for it but I already knew it sold on forums for $250. I paid him what he was asking for it. He made what he thought was a good profit and I sold it to someone else who wanted it at a price the market would support, and I made a good profit. Then, after telling a friend who had the same stock, he had me sell his and we split the money. He was going to throw it away!

If you purchase something with the intent of re-selling it for a profit, you are taking a risk. You risk the money you invest in the item that it could possibly be worth less than what you are paying for it. Risk can lead to reward otherwise, there would be no reason to risk anything in the first place!

If you get upset about someone making a buck off you, you got a lot more people besides those on CL to worry about.

Well, I have done the same thing to countless D Bags who were too slow on CL. I get my fair share of the D-Bags you are talking about too.
