another Dayton Heater Question

Hi, Hi Have The 5,000 watt max Dayton heater in my garage,
I wanted to take it down and make sure it is wired at max 5,000 watts.
But before my short *** has to stand on blocks and take it down,
Thought Id ask,
Is it wired to max heat Default 5,000 watts from the factory?
I cant find the book either, cause of my "No Count" Helper.<<< HIM

The instruction manual in this link says, "Heat output can be increased or decreased by switching wires at the wattage change terminal board. The heater is factory wired to deliver a heat output of 17,065 BTU per hour."

If you compare the BTU rating to the wattage rating on the same page of the manual, this means it's factory wired at 5000 watts.

I believe that MEP makes both the Fahrenheat andthe famed Dayton G73. I have one sitting in my garage. When I installed it , it was wired for full burn from the factory.

I was never fully in love with the heater. It does heat up , but I never had insulation in my ceiling. I am working on that this winter.

Do you own a clamp on ammeter? Can you get access to the wires that feed it, more easily than pulling it down? At 5000 watts it should pull 20.8 amps running on 240 volts, and 10.4 amps at 2500 watts.

You would not have to take it down anyway - all the wiring is under the bottom panel. Those all come wired - AFAIK, mine did - at max output.
