Here's a couple of pics of the second coat. added some rustoleum flakes to give it more of a terrazzo look. 2nd coat is still tacky 24 hours later. I'm researching clear coats for a 3rd coat. The lady at Epoxy-Coat recommends a UV resistant Urethane. I've seen some bad news about Urethane top coat on this site. I'm going to let it cure for several days before adding topcoat, if at all. I like it the way it is, but my wife wants it glossier. but its my garage.

It seems a little rough, but I havent been able to rub my hand over it yet cause its still tacky.

If you find a urethane, that might take care of the roughness.

BMW - thats what I was thinking. The urethane would cover the flakes, and make a smoother surface. I'm going to try to find one and test it in the closet at the back of the garage before covering the whole floor. I talked to Sherwin Williams and they suggested their H&C Clear 23, but Epoxy-Coat said to use urethane

Floor looks great. It does look like it has more texture to it than what I was expecting but that's not a bad thing for a garage anyway. Did you have any special technique when applying the flakes? They look well distrubuted.

I put down the epoxy in 4'x8' sections, then threw the flakes up into the air and let them fall naturally to the floor. Then I filled in the less dense spots by rolling flakes between my fingers and letting them drop like adding spices to a pizza. Then I threw more across the garage toward the ceiling in all directions to make the flakes thicker. There are a few areas where I dropped them a little too thick.

The color of the epoxy looks more taupe now than after the first coat.

It does have a lot of texture. It's still a little tacky this morning, but I'm going to let it sit a few days while I research the clear topcoat issue.

Putting the polyurethane topcoat on will help with a couple of things. First, it will seal in the flakes to make the surface smoother but still with enough texture so that it is not so slippery. Secondly, the smoother surface will make sweeping a breeze. You won't believe the difference in effort required to sweep it.

I used U-Coat-It with their U-Flek option but I think the results should be similar.

Snorvet,

I suggest putting the topcoat on as thick as you can or, if it is spread thin, consider two or more coats. The U-Coat-It product I used goes on very thin so I applied 3 coats. Overkill & too many $$$ I know but the end result is worth it.

i got the shotblaster from sunbelt rentals in joliet. it was expensive but they were the only place i could find one. $389 for one day + $72 for 2 bags of shot.

I just rented from sunbelt and really feel like an all around bad mahcine and cost not what I had thought. Vacuum was poor! Dust everywhere, then it failed completely. Had to wait another week for a replacement, that was very poor as well. Cost they are telling me for one day is $809. $389 for one day, two bags shot, transportation

I do plan to refute the charges as the machine was so poor and caused more trouble than it was worth.

I saw your add and so I ask you did you pick up your own machine.
