Looking at epoxy-ing my floor. The previous owner of the house painted the garage floor, and when jacking up cars in my garage, the paint peels then flakes off. So my question is: Do I have to remove the paint from the floor before I epoxy it? Will the epoxy peel if I don't remove the paint? I know I need to thoroughly clean the floor, but wasn't sure if the paint had to be removed. Thanks.

I would remove the existing coating. If it is not sticking well now, when you put another coating on top of it, that could peel up too.
I would diamond grind the entire floor, this would remove the old coating and profile the concrete for a new coat. No acid wash required.

And to that reply... GRrrrr.. I have to rent a machine...
Some folks add a diamond wheel to a hand machine, some rent a walk-behind machine. Some do both (hand grinder for the edges).
We have the diamond cup wheels if you need one.
