Picked up this old Kennedy box over the weekend.
I told myself that I'd reached my toolbox limit, but couldn't pass this one up.

It's pretty crusty but solid, like most of the ones I drag home.
Can anyone tell how old it is? I'm guessing '50s.

I tell you what, I find something I can't live without practically every weekend.
The plus is the wife loves to go too. She usually 'helps' me decide if I need this kind of stuff.
She's the reason I came home with my gas pump (check out my albums, everything came from estate sales).

I recently got into pinstriping myself (6 months or so ago) and this would be great for totin' that stuff around, although my 'striping hasn't left my garage yet!

Identical to my Government issue tool box. They were available in 62 - 66 USAF AGE, and maybe longer.

Steve, do you have any pics of yours?
Is there a way to correctly identify it's age?

I got the government issue box, was thinking about throwing it away

Brownbagg, throw it away!!?? Are you out of your mind?? :)
Got any pics of yours?

No picture of mine but if I did it would look just like the one you show. Kennedy still makes a couple of cantilever tool boxes - the model 1022 would be the one closest I think to the vintage box I had. Page 21 of this pdf catalog. http://www.kennedymfg.com/KenCatrev32708.pdf

Contact Kennedy and send them a picture or two and they should be able to date your box for you. Contact them here and make your request http://www.kennedymfg.com/contact.htm

Thanks for the details Steve!
I checked out Kennedy's site and emailed them about the possible age of the box, we'll see what they say.
Anyway, looking at the catalog and what's left of the tag on the box it looks like style# 1018.
