Another Floor Coating question

My floor sweats like crazy in the spring, and does so until it warms and stops condensing moisture on it. And it really sweats, I keep wondering how the epoxy type floor coatings would be effected by this?

Epoxy will probably not handle this very well at all.

If the moisture is from atmospheric condensation, then the type of floor coating won't have any effect on it at all.

If the moisture is coming up through the concrete, then the coating may or may not be effected by it.

Before you can fix the problem you need to knows what its root cause is.

Do the moisture test. Tape a clear piece of visqueen to the floor in several area, 2' x 2' .
Tape it down well along the perimeter. Wait 24 hours and if you see moisture under it, you have moisture issues.


If you have issues...
You may be able to stain and apply an acrylic sealer, inexpensive and a nice compromise. The sealer will allow the moisture to pass through.

Do the test anyway. We recommend it with any coating.
